Oceanfront Kalakaua Surf & Sunsets

I've been coming to Honolulu for decades. This house at 3033 Kalakaua has the best location of anywhere I have stayed for feeling like you're entrenched like a local. Quiet brick cul-de-sac of "gingerbread" homes that are historic properties. Less than a mile from Waikiki but you feel 50 miles away from the craziness. You are surrounded by friendly, local neighbors. "Auntie Liz" has lived in this area her entire life and is super helpful with suggestions and will even take folks out for a surf. In addition to ocean view through large glass doors, you are also getting one of the prime sunset watching spots in the city without leaving the house. Super easy access to one of the best local surf spots (Tonggs). There is nice secluded beach for swimming and sun-bathing less than .25 mile walk on the seawall. The house is cute and comfortable and the A/C absolutely comes in handy on hot days. We cooked 5 of the 7 nights we were there, and found the kitchen ready to go and easy to use. We stocked fridge and freezer for the week for breakfast and lunch. Whole Foods is 4-5 miles away with scenic drive. We liked the location so much we didn't leave the immediate area a whole lot, but the house is in great location for sight-seeing with easy access to freeways and trips to the North Shore. If you want to feel like you live in Hawai'i, this is the place. We super enjoyed it and will be coming back!

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful home right on the ocean. Gorgeous sunsets and swimming nearby at the little beach a short walk down the seawall. The aunt next door was friendly and nice. Can’t wait to return!!

If you are looking for the ultimate stay in Honolulu you want to find yourself a place in Diamond Head. Then you need to seriously consider this awesome bungalow right on the water. We woke up to surfers and SUPers in the morning and went to bed with spectacular sunsets. Parking is great. There is a spot at the house which is awesome in this quiet neighborhood. You are a 10 minute walk from the heart of Waikiki. The only time we ever needed to use our car was to go to the Sony Open and take a trip to the North Shore. Other than that everything we needed was within walking distance. We had such an awesome time in Hawaii and this place was a big part of it. You are right on the water. We went swimming every morning, had everything we needed in the kitchen to make many outstanding meals, went swimming in front of the house morning and night and when we needed additional entertainment or a night out we made the quick walk down to Waikiki. Again, we had a fantastic time and KalaKaua was a huge part of it. We will be coming back and as long as it is available we will be staying here again.

This rental provides spectacular views. Beautiful sunsets every evening. Watched sailboat races and local surfing daily. GREAT location with beaches and shopping within walking distance yet located in a quiet neighborhood. Neighbors were super nice! Rental was very clean and provided all of the basic essentials. We absolutely loved this house! It was perfect for our family of 4 teenagers. It`s located about a 15 - 20 walk from Waikiki beach, the walk is easy, mostly along the park. You can sit on the deck in the morning and drink your coffee, you can sit on the deck during the day and watch boats, ships, surfers, airplanes and helicopters. You can also sit on the deck at night with a glass of wine or whiskey and watch the beautiful sunset. If your looking for more of a private get-away, this is the place for you.
