You’re also close to the beach and Whalers Village, a popular shopping destination. Start your day by stepping out the sliding glass doors onto your private lanai, cup of coffee in hand. After savoring your lush surroundings, head back inside to make some breakfast in the well-equipped galley kitchen. Now it’s time to get ready for your day – no problem. You’ve got lots of space in the bedroom, which features matching king beds. After a day of taking in all that Maui has to offer, or perhaps just lounging at the shared pool and hot tub, head back to home base. In the evening, settle in on the vintage Polynesian-style sectional for a little TV, but not before a gorgeous sunset and happy hour cocktail at the onsite Castaway Cafe. Maui Kaanapali Villas is one of our favorite places to stay and this units location in the Emerald building even on the ground floor is great. The whole unit could easily be improved to make it a fantastic stay.

While the unit is well located in the complex and we liked it so much that we have stayed there for the past three years. However, this year we ran into a plethora of problems. 1.) the AC leaked and there was water on the floor and the carpet in the bedroom. It was not attended to properly and the carpet developed mold. This became a health issue. 2.) the sliders and screen doors would not close properly. One screen was off track and fell onto the floor almost hitting my three-year-old granddaughter. Not being able to open the doors is a fire issue. 3.) a piece of the AC vent fell and shattered in the bedroom. I spent many hours of my vacation trying to get this all fixed. It took hours away from my family and fun. Trying to get a hold of anyone at Vacasa was practically impossible, and I was on hold for long periods of time.I was told there would be some compensation for my trouble but so far, crickets. I booked next year at the villas, but not at that unit and not through Vacasa. If you want to talk to an AI bot and have a horrible customer service then this is the company for you. Vacasa dropped the ball. I am still waiting to hear from anyone.

What can I say, we do love Maui. This ground level room was convenient and in a beautiful location. However, with some major drawbacks. The home is quite outdated, but that we could live with. The AC didn’t work half the time, the bathtub took hours to drain whether you took a shower or not. The bathtub also had very rusted faucets and drainage. The couch bed mattress was non-existent, you could literally feel the metal bars underneath even for a child. There was one extra blanket, not much for the couch/couch bed. Lots of issues for the price we paid.

We loved the proximity to the pool and they provided beach chairs and an umbrella as well. We had all the things we needed in the kitchen as well. Very peaceful stay.
