To begin, we were not given the correct code to the door and could not enter. Thankfully, they had a good representative on-site who helped us with that. When we did enter, there were dead bugs on the bathroom floor. We had a leaky toilet, which got progressively worse and called maintenance. It was fixed. The apartment definitely needs an overall facelift. The bed, definitely, without a doubt, needs to be replaced. The closet doors in the bedroom were off the track and we could not open them, but my husband fixed that. We put a towel under the front door so bugs would not come in because there is a gap. The screen door to the patio needs new rollers. The hot and cold are backwards in both the bathroom and the kitchen. For the amount of money we paid, which was a total of $1,400 for 4 nights, this place is not worth it.
Ground level unit conveniently use to major road. Close to shopping and restaurants .. easy walk to thrm and the beach!
We loved the ground floor location fairly close to the property entrance and therefore, the beach. We did have a little road noise from the yahoos with their music cranked to maximum but it was worth the tradeoff to be close to the water, right on Kamaole II. Our lanai felt quite private even on the ground floor because the walking path is a proper distance from the edge of the lanais. There's a huge, lovely tree shading the area and nice plantings. We could see part of the parking lot, but my husband also saw a whale breeching from the lanai! There was some noise from the restaurant next door but having it right there might be an attraction for those who eat out. The furniture was comfortable and adequate for two people. The cushions on the chairs were not thick enough for us so we doubled them up. The bed mattress is pretty bouncy (we'd prefer firm) and we would have liked a choice of thin and thick pillows -- they were all thick. We liked the very good storage space for clothing -- lots of drawers, lots of hangers, and once we emptied out all the spare toilet paper, plenty of room for toiletries. Good supply of shampoo etc. Good supply of bath and beach towels. Only one of the beach chairs was in good condition -- others had broken straps, rust etc. but we were glad to have any. We appreciated the coolers and shopping basket for our use. Kitchen/cooking/food prep supply was pretty good although there were no sharp knives for a real cook to use. I usually bring my own but couldn't without checking a bag this time. The refrigerator was good sized but froze some of the food at a medium setting. Paper towels in the kitchen on arrival had some kind of insect infestation -- but this is the tropics! We really needed another couple of dish towels -- the only one got wet and stayed wet in the humid climate. We appreciated the supply of dishwasher pods! Dishwasher is small but great for two people. The pool is nice but nothing special -- just as pictured on the website. The main thing I missed was having a hot tub -- there isn't one! It would have been great to warm up and have some conversations with other residents. There was a pretty homey vibe, mix of longer term "snowbirds" and couples and families. Kihei Kai Nani is not for a partying crowd. The on site gas barbeque nearest our unit was an excellent, clean Weber. There is a shuffleboard court along the buildings on the other side of the property. We didn't get around to using it but it looked to be in good shape. I would not have wanted windows or lanai overlooking it, though. We'd like to put in a good word for the three used bookstores in the area supporting the Maui Friends of the Library -- lots of great books, CDs and DVDs at amazing prices. The only significant negative we want to mention is the constant crowing of the roosters living on at least two sides of the property. They don't ever stop -- even at 2 a.m. Bring good earplugs!
