We had a wonderful stay at Trailhead Lodge. The property was beautiful and matched the description online. The location was phenomenal! There is a gondola right by the hotel entrance that takes you directly to Steamboat Square. It was perfect for our guests who went skiing and those who did not. Would love to stay here again!

The location of the property and the incredibly short walk to the mini-gondola serving the base was fantastic and cannot be underestimated. But there are a few caveats: 1) This unit overlooks the mini-gondola and at 5:30am when it begins operations, every beep and mechanical sound telegraphs into the primary bedroom as if the windows were open. 2) The staff at this building were not surly and unfriendly, but pretty close to it. They went through the motions and did what they needed to, but nothing more. It was definitely not a customer service culture. Example: at check-in, the rooms didn't become available until the 15 minutes prior to the check-in time. As in every single room in the facility was magically only finished 15 minutes ahead of check-in time. And there was quite a large crowd in the lobby getting processed in that 15 min period.
