There are also numerous hiking and biking trails of various lengths nearby. Charming downtown Durango is also home to lovely art galleries, dining and shopping options, and the Animas River Trail 26 miles south.

A well-loved family friendly cabin in the mountains. Great access to trails, Silverton and Durango. We loved the porch, family room, big dining table and the kids loved the loft. Great stay!

When we first arrived, the stairs were completely covered in thick ice, making it almost impossible to get inside. We had to literally break the ice with a hammer just to clear a path. It was immediately clear that no one had been at the property for quite some time. Adding to the sense of neglect, there were no holiday decorations of any kind, not even a small Christmas touch, which was disappointing during the holiday season. We had rented this same house about four years ago and were hesitant to rent it again because of past issues, but we decided to give it another chance, hoping things might have improved. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. If anything, the house seemed even more neglected this time around. Cleanliness was a major issue throughout the property. We found rat droppings in one of the kitchen drawers, in the downstairs bathroom, and even inside the kitchen trash cans. The entire house was filled with cobwebs, which gave the impression that it hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time. There were also several functional problems. The toilet handle in the upstairs bathroom kept falling off, making it difficult to use. The electrical system seemed faulty as well, with the breaker tripping every time certain lights were turned on. These were basic issues that should have been addressed before any guests arrived. Overall, it felt like the host or cleaning crew rarely, if ever, checks on the property. The lack of care and attention to detail was glaring. Between the cleanliness issues, maintenance problems, and absence of even a small effort to create a festive holiday atmosphere, the house felt completely uninviting and neglected.
