GL306 Butte Gem

This unit by far was worse kept property rental we have ever had. The inside of the toilet was stained with brown stripes giving the appearance of a horrible diarrhea episode. Non working electrical plugs, humidifier, blow dryer and bathroom heater. The bathroom had leaking pipes, the ceiling was speckled with black mold. The shower water faucet broken. There is a large carpet burn on floor by the master bed. Minimal dishes/cooking pans. Self service your own linen application. The WiFi did not work. There was no instructions for trash disposal. This unit was not well kept, not in good working order, unclean, not worth the rental price paid and not the GL306 GEM it is described to be.

When I got to the unit, everything seemed fine. However, I quickly learned that there were multiple issues with the unit. Only the entry hall and bathroom lights worked. Also, only the outlets in the kitchenette area worked. This meant that the lamps didn’t work and I couldn’t charge my phone(aka alarm clock) next to the bed at night. Over the course of several days I called multiple times to report these issues. Each time I was assured it would be addressed. I was there for four nights and It never was fixed. If you’re looking for a budget friendly place to rest your head at night while you spend your days out in the beautiful wilderness of Crested Butte, then this should be sufficient. The unit is showing its age, but it gets the job done otherwise.

This place was good for the price I paid. The grand Lodge itself is one of my favorite places to stay in crested Butte. I think there’s a reason I got this unit so cheap for Labor Day weekend. There’s a big burn mark in the carpet on the floor. All the pictures were missing from the walls, and the shower ceiling has a nasty looking leak that has been shoddily repaired with caulk or DAP. You can still see the moldy ceiling poking through in spots and of course, when someone is in the bathroom upstairs, you get a nice drip into your own shower.

This room is very basic, nothing on the walls, spots on the carpet and questionable bathroom amenities. It does the job as far as a place to stay, but I wouldn’t book it if you were planning on a nicer room/romantic getaway.
