We had a great stay at the Aspen Mountain lodge. Main areas we visited in town were within a 10 min walking distance. Shuttle buses stopped near the property to take you to the ski areas. Breakfast was great and had a decent variety. Staff was friendly.
The plus of this place is that it was small and in a good location. Not quite as expensive as other places in Aspen. The lodge itself however is very disappointing at this time.
My fundamental complaint was the front door was left open all night. Then, the rooms were clean enough but the lobby was not. The carpet was disgusting. The room heat was broken with no one to fix it. “Our maintenance person is out” I was told. The TV kept asking for software updates before we could use it. Not that we were there for TV but a little would have been nice. The breakfast was sparse and served 7:30-9:00. If you came at 8:30 you were out of luck completely. Also it was quite noisy due to the set up but also the cleaning people came early (6:30 am) and talked loudly with each other.
The front desk staff were really nice but also they were nowhere to be found on the weekend.
It’s my understanding the place we just purchased so perhaps these issues will be resolved. The new management requires 100% payment 30 days in advance which was a policy shift made after I made the initial reservation. I refused to do that since it was not in the initial contact for lodging. To their credit they allowed me to pay as initially agreed -7 days in advance.
If you are looking for budget accommodations in Aspen this might be good enough. I hope they work out their issues.
