Overview

Tucked away on 2.6 acres of woodlands like The Nest that it is, this cozy, traditional home makes a wonderful base for your Vermont adventures. Whether you're planning to hike the surrounding forest, catch spectacular fall foliage, or ski Mad River Glen and Sugarbush Resort, you'll be greeted back at home each day by a private hot tub and a crackling wood stove.

The setting is quiet and secluded - a place to spend summer mornings on the second-story 360-degree wraparound deck, listening to the sounds of birdsong and the babble of a neighboring brook. Yet you'll also be incredibly close to Mad River Glen (three miles), Mt. Ellen (four miles), and Sugarbush Resort (six miles), with an on-site EV charger making transportation all the easier.

The warmer months are for lingering outdoors - walking your dogs in the mornings, barbecuing in the afternoons, and roasting marshmallows around the firepit before slipping into the hot tub in the evenings. The winter is every bit as inviting, thanks to plush sofas, smart TVs, a woodstove to warm you, and plentiful windows framing the forest dusted in snow.

At night, find three bedrooms paired with three full bathrooms. Bonus features include a washer/dryer, large mudroom, electric vehicle charger, UV air purifier, a propane furnace with forced-air central heating, a MERV13 air filter, three dog runs, and a dog gate at the ground level deck.

in all honesty i was disappointed.. i booked this for my bday trip and didn’t turn out all as i hoped it to be. first things, i had asked if all fireplaces were working in the house as i was excited to have one in my room.. we get there and they all have fake candles with signs saying “please do not use”, which right off the bat was the biggest down fall as it was a major reason i booked this place.. the toilet in my en-suite started leaking so i was told to turn the water off to it, along with the shower drain not being properly secured, so i moved rooms, just for the other tv to have a crack in it affecting the picture.. some of the appliances were fragile making my nervous to use. honestly the hot tub + view is the only thing pushing it to 3 stars, but even the hot tub house smelt like wet dog no matter how long we tried to air it out. when we went to bring our trash up it looks like the previous guests trash got thrown about the yard, and even found a dead opossum in the bin.. for the price i feel it could’ve been a bit more maintained :(

This home is very well set up for three couples to share. Each of the three bedrooms has a king bed and a TV. The two ground level bedrooms each have ensuite bathrooms, and the main floor bedroom is steps from the main floor bathroom. The mudroom is very large and functional. The dining table seats six. The hot tub is also large, easily able to accomodate 6 adults at once. As for the downsides, the house may not be ideal for the height-challenged. The stairways to the main level are fairly steep. Also the beds are fairly tall, making them a bit hard to climb into if one is short (I am 5'4" and I struggled.) My final observation is that the hot tub is in an enclosure, so not ideal for the claustrophobic, but it is sheltered from the elements.

The house is very private, well furnished and comfortable.

Nice home but had no cookware to cook food. Cookware was replaced on our last night before leaving. I guess the next guests will have a better experience.

I loved the layout of the house. The beds were king size and so comfy- like sleeping on clouds. The wrap-around porch was so cool. There was a running creek on the side of the house that was an added bonus. The driveway is a bit steep, but it wasn’t a problem because we stayed there in the summer. Even though there is no A/C, the house was cool and comfortable. We did not use hot tub or BBQ, so I can’t comment on that.

Reserved for a ski vacation - close drive to Sugarbush. Steep access road but well maintained and passable with 4w drive. We had a melt and freeze so road probably icier than usual. The beds were comfortable, bedrooms roomy with storage and en-suite bathrooms on first level, loved the large mudroom at the entry with lots of pegs, benches and cubbies. Plenty of wood for wood stove but no kindling or fire starter provided to start it so pack accordingly. Kitchen had the basics. Hot tub located in an enclosed shed - short walk to back of house. Plenty of parking but steep walk to get to cars parked along the access road and halfway down driveway.
