Jay Peak Getaway on Trout River

Clean, comfortable, and fully equipped—this home has everything you need except food. The peaceful river setting makes it even better. Highly recommend and would absolutely return.

Jay Peak Getaway on Trout River was a great place to stay for a weekend of skiing. It is close to stores and restaurants. We had a great time over at the Snowshoe Inn. Very comfy house with some nice bonus touches such as a hot tub. Would definitely book here again!

The house was incredibly spacious and comfortably accommodated our group of six. Nestled right along the Trout River, it offered beautiful views of the surrounding nature and felt surprisingly private, even though it’s located within a neighborhood. Each of us had our own bed, which was great. The bunk bed room was a bit tight due to the size of the beds—especially with all our ski and snowboard gear—but the adjoining sitting room provided plenty of extra space to store luggage and stay organized. The downstairs bathroom was definitely on the smaller side, but it was a welcome convenience whenever the main upstairs bathroom was occupied. Parking was snug but workable. We successfully fit a mid-size pickup truck, one compact SUV, and two standard SUVs into the four designated spots. Inside, the dining table was large enough for all of us to gather comfortably, and the living area—with its gas fireplace—was perfect for drying out gear and keeping our boots warm after a day on the mountain. The hot tub was another huge perk; even in sub-zero temperatures, we were able to enjoy it throughout the weekend. The home is in a quiet neighborhood and within walking distance of Montgomery Center’s small downtown area, where we found a ski/snowboard shop, a market, and a handful of restaurants and gift shops. Getting to Jay Peak was easy—the Stateside Lodge is about a 15-minute drive. We arrived during a big storm, and even though my truck didn’t have snow tires, its AWD handled the cleared roads well enough to make it for first tracks at 8 a.m. That said, I’d definitely recommend having AWD or 4WD for winter trips. For those in our group who weren’t skiing, Stowe was about an hour away and offered activities like snowmobiling, which made for a great day trip. Overall, I would absolutely book this place again for my next trip to Jay Peak. It was comfortable, convenient, and had everything we needed for a fantastic winter getaway.

We loved the location of the home - walkable to town (resturants, shops, bars) and Jay Peak. The house itself was spotless, well-appointed, and clearly thoughtfully set up for guests. The layout worked great for our group, the beds were comfortable, and the common areas were ideal for hanging out after a full day outside. We especially appreciated the little details that made it feel more like a home than a rental. John and his team were fantastic hosts and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. The host was responsive, clear, and easy to communicate with, which made the entire experience seamless from check-in to check-out. We’d absolutely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Jay Peak—whether for skiing, a winter getaway, or just a peaceful Vermont escape.
