This lovely, three-level lodge is tucked away in the forest south of Ludlow, just one mile from the shops and restaurants in the center of town. Spend the crisp winter months skiing and snowboarding on 121 trails at Okemo Mountain Resort two miles northwest, and return each summer to tee off at the Okemo Valley Golf Club (three miles north) or go hiking in Camp Plymouth State Park (eight miles north).

Your vacation begins as soon as you step inside, where you'll find an open floor plan, lofty wood ceilings, and a wall of windows that frame the trees and mountains. Snuggle up on the plush sofas with a book or a board game, and plug your phone into the sound dock to give the afternoon a soothing soundtrack.

Begin each morning with breakfast and freshly ground coffee in the kitchen (with stainless steel appliances and a dishwasher), and log onto the free WiFi to make a plan for the day ahead.
