Lil' Cottage Retreat

The location is great. The house is smallish but light and reasonably well appointed. When we arrived the comforter and the sheets on the bed were sandy to the touch. Not confidence inspiring regarding a thorough cleaning. So we stripped the bed and washed everything. That got us to the foam topper that was so old and dirty that it had the outline of the box spring supports in dirt on the underside. Unfortunately without this the bed was nearly useless. Hard as a brick. The second bed which was a double, had a plastic mattress cover and turning around in bed elicited sounds of a plastic table cloth crinkling under me. Invest in some new beds please. At this nightly price the owner is netting 50 to 60k a year. A new mattress is in the budget I think. While the kitchen was well outfitted, the fridge and freezer compartment reeked of fish (we are on the Main coast, so in itself not too surprising) but an occasional defrost with a deep clean would ensure that the ice cubes dont taste like cowda... And the stove smoked and had a distinct eau de mouse smell when hot. So, overall, a nice location , a charming lil cabin ( the 11 ocean/sea themed wall hangings with the word "beach" notwithstanding), but decidedly dated in some aspects. TV was on its last legs as well, big dark blotches of LCDs on their last legs. Other than that we had a fun time, the beach is wonderful and the house is close enough to the water that you can hear the ocean.

This little cottage is a hidden gem we have been renting for the past few years. Location is great! You can’t get any closer to the beach. Cottage is clean and more than enough room. Can’t wait to book our next vacation. Donna T.

We love this property

The Lil’ Cottage Retreat surpassed all expectations and was the perfect place to stay for our most perfect vacation ever. This vacation involved a surprise wedding for my now husband and me! My parents who we were vacationing with had no idea we were getting married. There was plenty of space to keep things secret until we headed to Nubble Light! There was plenty of room for everyone! No tripping over each other or feeling like we couldn’t get some space to ourselves. It’s literally the perfect place to stay! So perfect in fact we’ve already booked it for next year!!!
