Overview
Spend a quintessential summer in Maine at this darling lakefront cottage on the shores of McGrath Pond. Once featured on Magnolia Network's 'Maine Cabin Masters,' this home has been lovingly restored as a family gathering space.
This picturesque abode sits near the northeastern corner of McGrath Pond, a spring-fed body of water that flows into Salmon Lake and the five other interconnected Belgrade Lakes. It's a beautiful setting for swimming and kayaking, taking afternoon naps in the hammock, and roasting marshmallows around the firepit at the water's edge. Two kayaks and two paddleboards are provided, so feel free to have adventures on the water and the home's boat slip. Oakland is two miles east while bustling Waterville and renowned Colby College are about four miles beyond.
Enter through a beautiful side deck, where you can barbecue in the afternoons, dine alfresco at sunset, and relax in the evenings while listening to the call of the loons. Inside, the cottage was renovated in a way that kept its charms intact, offering lofty ceilings, exposed crossbeams, and natural wood at every turn. Central heat and air-conditioning ensure comfort all year long.
The living space is lined with windows, allowing you to admire the view of the lake whether you're cooking in the open kitchen, chopping vegetables on the island, or kicking back on the sofas to play cards or stream movies. Two inviting bedrooms, a sleeping loft, and complimentary WiFi, are also provided.

This cabin is located in a nice cozy cove of a bigger lake. It is quiet at night, and you can usually hear loons in the distance. The loons also like to enter the cove early in the morning, and later in the afternoon. I also saw bald eagles flying close by! The camp has kayaks and paddle boards to get out on the water, and of course, there's swimming. Overall, the camp was clean and had all the amenities you would need for a comfortable stay.
We just wrapped up a weekend stay at a cabin in Maine, and it was exactly the reset we needed. The setting was peaceful and private, surrounded by trees, lakes and fresh air that makes you slow down without even trying. The cabin itself was cozy, clean, and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Mornings were spent with coffee looking out at the quiet landscape, and evenings were all about winding down by the fire. It’s the kind of place that feels simple in the best way—no distractions, just space to breathe and reconnect. Whether you’re looking for a quiet getaway or a base to explore Maine’s outdoors, this spot delivers. We’d definitely come back.
This will be our go to for our future visits. Great property, location, and plenty of space!! You won’t be disappointed!
I loved the quietness and views. So peaceful
An idyllic spot as long as huge groups aren’t in the homes next door. Loon Cove is a great corner of McGrath Pond and this camp was perfect for our needs
This camp was perfect for what we were looking for! We loved having our coffee at sunrise and soaking up the sun throughout the day. While it’s close to other properties and there were plenty of kids outside and in the water out front, everyone was very respectful, and it never felt disruptive. The camp itself had everything we needed and felt modern and comfortable. One thing to note: small flies were a bit of a nuisance indoors—especially in the kitchen and bathroom. We recommend washing dishes before and after meals, as we noticed both live and dead flies around those areas. We really appreciated the provided water fountain since the tap water isn’t potable—they had plenty of clean drinking water ready for us. The hill leading up to the camp is quite steep, but we didn’t mind—it gave our calves a little extra workout! The view is absolutely breathtaking. We highly recommend staying here for your Maine getaway
