We loved staying at this wonderful cabin on Lake Hebgen. We really enjoyed how remote the cabin was, as we were hoping to get some wildlife exposure outside of Yellowstone and this location did not disappoint. Our first night we walked down to the water to check out the wildlife there and saw something unusual out in the water. We watched it for a bit trying to figure out what it was and it started coming right towards us, it was a grizzly bear!!! We ran back to the cabin and about 15 min. later, watched the young grizzly walk right past the cabin! Nightly we saw elk, bison and coyotes as we drove to the cabin from the main road. Yellowstone is very easy access with lots of great restaurants in town to choose from. We drove around to Big Sky as well as Earthquake Lake. So much to do in the area that it kept us and our two college age kids entertained the whole time. We made some great lifetime memories here.
The house was great. Comfortable beds, plenty of seats, large dining table, and close to YS west entrance. The heater was off and no firewood in the house. Documentation about these items would have been helpful.
well stocked house
Great house, very private with 15 min drive to West Yellowstone
This cabin was incredibly cozy, and with just a few improvements, it could easily rank among our top vacation rentals. The home is well-stocked with kitchen supplies, games, and other essentials, which made our stay comfortable and convenient. I had read several reviews mentioning the road being extremely rough, but in our experience, it was just a typical dirt road—nothing out of the ordinary. We had no issues driving an SUV up to the property. One thing to note is that the cabin does not have air conditioning. While this was a bit disappointing at first, we were able to cool the home by opening the windows in the evenings. The overall cleanliness could use some attention. The floors didn’t appear to have been cleaned recently, the shower could use a thorough scrubbing, and there were cobwebs in the corners throughout the house. That said the cabin has a lot of potential. With a bit of extra care and maintenance it could be a truly exceptional experience. The location is perfectly located near the Yellowstone entrance and with an incredible view of the lake and mountains.
The convenience for accessing the YNP was great! Only 20 minutes from the west entrance gate. Also, proximity to the town of West Yellowstone was nice, too, with access to the grocery store for items for breakfast and supper cooking at the cabin. Kitchen was well stocked with cookware - had everything we needed.
