Wonderful place and convenient for skiing!
The room is in desperate need of refurbishment. The carpets are stained and worn out, the furnishings are old and dated, the toilet seat was completely detached from the toilet and not replaced until 4 days later. The bathroom layout is impractical with little space around the sink and a door that opens into the toilet. The bed was comfortable, but it's impossible to sit up in the bed as the headboard has a large ledge across the top that hits the back of your head. Design from 20 years ago without any thought of function. This was by far the worst quality and most expensive room on our 3 week trip. It's hard to believe Americans will pay so much for such poor accommodation. Apparently there are at least two, perhaps more, different management companies offering different services and access to facilities in this property. As the guest, you are expected to know all of these nuances, and depending on the room you book, you are made to feel like a second tier guest. There's a nice spa which our room key accessed, but apparently that is not included with our room. The spa reception is not always staffed, so we just signed in the first time. On our second visit, someone was there and made us feel like we were criminals for using the facilities that our room key gave us access to. How is a new guest supposed to know what they can or cannot use if there is no one to inform you? Don't try asking anyone at the front desk in the lobby, as this is only for guests of certain rooms. There are multiple laundry rooms, but again, there is no clarity of which one goes with the room you booked. Others in our party booked a room with a different management company, and we were constantly trying to figure out who had access to what....with no one in the hotel being able to offer any clarity. In all of my years of traveling the world, I have never experienced anything like this. They really need to do something to address this confusion, as it was the topic of conversation with most of the other guests we encountered. Overall, it is shockingly poor value for the overall cost.
Shoshone 1917 had everything we needed for a 5 night stay at Big Sky Resort. The condo had plenty of space for two people and the kitchen allowed us to come back to the condo for lunch. Condo is in a convenient location, not far from elevator/stairs so we could easily carry our skis to and from the slope. The Explorer Gondola is located just behind the back entry to the building. Parking is a bit far, but there is an option for valet parking if it becomes an issue.
A large space with two complete bathrooms and a Murphy wall bed for additional guest. The location couldn't be better within the Village and we especially enjoyed the use of the resort's indoor/outdoor hot tub; you enter from indoors! Bring a bathrobe and some flipflops; it seemed like that's what all the regulars were doing.
Great condo located right in the heart of the ski resort base area.
This room was great. We especially loved the super comfy bed and pillows.
