Our family of four had an awesome winter ski trip to this cozy cabin! We were initially a little worried that there was no central heating but the wall unit in the living room ended up keeping the house at a good temp and was not an issue at all. Beds were firm and comfortable, all appliances in the kitchen worked as expected and there was ample counter space to store our stuff. Good showers and hot water. The only suggestion is to improve the shower lighting in the master bedroom. May be too dim for some but we were fine. We also appreciated the little things - playable guitars on the wall that our musical family enjoyed, end tables everywhere with USB/power outlets for our phones, shoe rack by the door, games & books, etc. The cabin also had lots of items & games for younger kids (although ours are 12 & 16 and didn’t need them) - wooden trains, toy cars, books, pack-n-play. There was even an office desk in the master closet with an external monitor for those remotely working. Excellent convenient location to Cattaloochee Ski area just up the mountain. Also a 48 minute drive to Asheville for a fun day trip. (French Broad Chocolate factory tour, Momentum Art Gallery, Pinball museum, Moogseum, Mast General Store) All in all, an awesome place and we’d definitely come back!
The lodge is comfortable and everything is easy to find. We could walk in and cook like we were at home. By the way, when you come to Maggie Valley, it's probably best to bring some food from home to prepare because you are up a steep mountain and there are no real grocery stores in Maggie Valley and the restaurants close early. The lodge has toys and games for kids. It has a few guitars to play soothing music and yoga blocks and mats which I personally enjoyed. I practice yoga and qigong and found the Elk Valley Lodge property to be invigorating and full of good energy.
The house is well stocked with everything needed for your stay! Like they say clothes and food is all you need to bring to this home! Beds clean and slept good!
The house itself was clean and comfy. One room was cramped with 4 people and their stuff. The fire pit was fabulous! It was set up with everything you'd need for a fire, enough chairs for everyone (we needed 8), wood, lighter and a beautiful view of the night sky. The driveway took some navigation to get up from a right turn in a larger vehicle. The turn is sharp and steep and there's no warning in the description or directions. Also, you have to haul off your own trash 😞. We didn't find this out until the night before we were to leave. The house and pit are 4-5 stars, but the driveway, view and trash changed it to 3 stars.
Loved the location and tranquility.
The house was great and we enjoyed the stay. I would have liked to check in at 3 o’clock. After a long drive we were ready to settle in
