Overview
Wake to the sound of the Pacific spilling across the commons and the light shifting hour by hour over the bluff. By night, slip into the hot tub, cut the jets, and let the sea take over while the stars come out. Room for 4 in this 2-bedroom Sea Ranch home. Your recreation key unlocks heated community pools, saunas, and 50 miles of bluff and forest trails. A rhythm of fog, sun, and salt air you'll settle into by day two.
Sunhoma sits low and quiet on a Sea Ranch bluff, a redwood-sided home oriented across an open sea-meadow toward the Pacific. Wild grasses, cypress, and the steady sound of surf set the tone before you even open the door. Inside, redwood vaulted wood-beam ceilings, skylights, and pacific facing windows pull the coastal light deep into the rooms, while a stone wood-burning fireplace anchors the living room with built-in bookshelves and an eclectic, lived-in collection of art and books. The kitchen runs along ceramic counters under a skylit beam ceiling, equipped for real cooking with oven, cooktop, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, and toaster. Just beyond, the dining area opens to picture windows that frame ocean and meadow in equal measure -- a wide, sunlit space rather than a tucked-away corner. Upstairs, a loft lounge with leather recliners, a mounted TV, sound bar, and desk gives a second living space under exposed beams, and a sculptural black metal spiral staircase tucks off to the side as a quiet architectural detail. In the dining room, a telescope is pointed to the horizon for watching passing whales. Privacy is built into the site: the front looks over the filled garden and the back faces the peaceful commons, so there is no neighbor overlook in either direction. Outside, two distinct decks shape the day. The small front deck catches the morning sun and is the spot for first coffee; in the planned front garden, hummingbirds are already working the flowering shrubs. The back deck looks down the commons to the sea, with the covered hot tub, Weber gas BBQ, and outdoor dining under an umbrella. The owner's favorite moment lives out here: night soak, jets off, stars overhead, and only the sound of the Pacific. SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS Spread out across 2 bedrooms -- the king room rests under a vaulted wood ceiling with tree-framed views, and the queen room opens through sliding glass doors to a private deck. Altogether, the home comfortably sleeps 4. PROPERTY AMENITIES -- 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, sleeps 4 -- Covered private hot tub on the back deck overlooking the commons and sea (the owner's stars-and-surf moment) -- Weber gas BBQ and outdoor dining with umbrella -- Stone wood-burning fireplace in the living room -- Telescope for whale-watching -- Loft lounge with mounted TV and sound bar -- Two outdoor decks: sunny morning-coffee deck in front, sea-facing deck in back COMMUNITY AMENITIES (at Sea Ranch recreation centers) -- Heated pools and saunas (at Del Mar, Moonraker, and Ohlson rec centers) -- Tennis and pickleball courts (at rec centers) -- 50+ miles of coastal bluff and forest trails
The entire home is yours for the stay, including both decks and the private hot tub -- no reservation needed, available around the clock. Park on-site in the garage or the gravel driveway. Detailed check-in instructions and the door code are sent before arrival. As a guest, you also receive a Sea Ranch recreation pass, which unlocks the three heated community pools, saunas, tennis and pickleball courts, fitness center, and 50+ miles of bluff and forest trails at the Del Mar, Moonraker, and Ohlson rec centers.
Step onto the bluff trail in under a minute and walk south to Ohlson beach and rec center -- watch for seals and cormorants out every day, especially at sunset. Walk north along the bluff for a short, pretty stretch to Shell Beach. Visit the architecturally striking Sea Ranch Chapel, dine at the Sea Ranch Lodge, or drive ten minutes up Highway 1 to Gualala for groceries, galleries, and restaurants.
Sea Ranch sits on the Sonoma Coast, roughly 2.5 hours north of San Francisco via Highway 101 to Highway 1. The closest airport is Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) in Santa Rosa, about 1.5 hours east. A car is essential -- both for the trip up and for exploring the coast once you arrive. The drive along Highway 1 is part of the experience, so leave time for pull-outs and ocean overlooks.
Sunhoma is cared for by the Casago Sonoma team. Check-in is fully contactless -- your door code and arrival instructions arrive before your stay. We are a quick message away if you need anything, from a restaurant tip to a question about the hot tub or the recreation key.
Sea Ranch keeps exterior lighting minimal by design to protect the dark sky -- bring a flashlight for evening walks, and you'll be rewarded with some of the best stargazing on the California coast (especially from the back deck or hot tub). Gray whales migrate just offshore from December through April, and the turret-window telescope earns its keep during those months. April through June is wildflower season, when the coastal meadows and bluff trails fill with color. Mornings often start under coastal fog that burns off by midday. Your recreation pass opens the three Sea Ranch rec centers (Del Mar, Moonraker, Ohlson). These are shared community amenities and can be popular during peak times, so check availability when you arrive. Cell service can be patchy along the coast. The home has WiFi for staying connected.
