Whale's Tale is described as a fabulous, exactly as advertised getaway with a beautiful, spacious layout that feels larger than expected and offers plenty of room to spread out for couples or families. Guests appreciated the comfortable seating, well appointed full kitchen, pleasant balcony and covered porch, and the inviting interior that felt lovely, new, and relaxing. The condo was consistently praised for being very clean, neat, and well kept. Whale's Tale stands out for its unbeatable waterfront setting with easy walking access to town, shops, restaurants, and the footbridge, making it convenient for exploring the area. Guests especially loved the amazing harbor and marina views, enjoying the scenery and watching boats and local activity from the balcony and porch. The property was also appreciated for its restaurant below, streaming television, and pet friendly appeal.

Overview

A quintessential scene of Boothbay Harbor awaits at this oceanfront condo, gorgeously situated with west-facing views of the harbor itself, the marina below, and beautiful nightly sunsets. This is a place to unwind on your shaded balcony, watching the ferries, whale-watch cruises, and local lobster boats come and go.

This second-floor condo is located in a waterfront building on the east side of the harbor, just about half a mile south of the footbridge into downtown. There's so much you can walk to here - Boothbay Lobster Wharf, great restaurants, cute shops, kayak rentals, sailing and whale-watching charters, and the little beach at Barrett Park. The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and the Maine State Aquarium are both within four miles as well.

This condo is a delight to come home to after a day spent out on the water, as you can take in the harbor view from the balcony and throughout the window-lined living space. Everywhere you look, you'll see the colors of the ocean, from the well-equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances to the open living room with a smart TV. High-speed WiFi and a private washer/dryer are provided for your convenience as well.

We have owned or rented properties in Boothbay Harbor for almost 40 years, once kept a boat in Carousel Marina, and had no idea there was such a nice rental property available here. The description is accurate but does not really desribe the size of the unit, much larger than we expected! Long hallway separates the bedrooms/bathrooms from the kitchen/dining/den area. One separate bedroom, then all other beds are in the second bedroom. One nice bath in hallway, 2nd bath ensuite in the 2nd bedroom. Plenty of room to spread out! Great for 2 couples or family with kids. Clean, well appointed kitchen, comfortable seating in the den. TV is a Roku, all streaming services work great. View from the balcony directly over the marina is fantastic, as is the view of town across the harbor. We frequented the restaurant during the previous ownership, and the new owners have maintained the quaility and atmosphere. Be aware of the steps up to the unit, and finding parking for even 1 car can sometimes be tricky. We will definitely return!

We enjoyed our stay at Whale’s Tale. The covered porch had great views of the harbor and we enjoyed watching boats come and go. It started pouring on our first night, and we were able to get to the Whale’s Tale restaurant without going outside. We enjoyed the restaurant. Great spot for families with room for several sleepers in the second bedroom. Everything was clean and new.

Loved Whale's Tale. As the description and others mentioned, this is located in a vibrant marina. It was quiet at night and active in the morning. Absolutely gorgeous inside with lots of room! Only recommendations would be for more lighting in the living area and to check the sheets/comforters for dog hair. (Sometimes it's tough to get out , even after linens are washed!)

Beautiful views of the harbor from the pleasant balcony. Convenient location to walk into town. We really enjoyed the nightly accoustic guitar music from the downstairs restaurant. A few minor things that could be improved - the washer and dryer didn't work very well, the lighting in the apartment is a bit harsh, and none of the doors closed correctly. I recommend this place overall.

Apart from the significant problem of the TV not connected to the cable, which meant no access to major national/international news networks (CNN, MSNBC FOX), the rental unit was fine. But I will not rent it again because of this problem.
