For the price, this property was pretty cool as it was only a 1 mile walk to downtown Bar Harbor and the road you walk on is beautiful! The layout of the home was really funky and cool, especially the downstairs. It was clear there had been some upgrades to the property with newer mattresses and some work to the deck railing. The washer and dryer were also in great shape and was nice to have that amenity. The fenced in yard, while has so much potential, needs some upkeep. The door was hanging on by one hinge, so was not very functional. Also, if going to keep property dog friendly, dog poop should be taken care of, though we took care of this for the next renters. Bathrooms were clean and looked upgraded. The bedding provided really needs to be cleaned better as the sheets on the downstairs queen had hairs in them and the folded sheets in the closet had a vomit-like smell, so they didn't seem to get as clean as they should, though we brought our own bedding and this worked out. Kitchen was great and clean and wifi was fantastic. The couch in the living room probably needs to be replaced as it seems quite worn. The location of the property is amazing as it is on a quiet road and parking was super easy. Very safe for walking and biking into town. Overall, the stay was quite pleasant and with some TLC, this place has potential to be an epic rental in the future.
This place had way more space than we expected. Next time we’ll bring friends.
This property was a mix of good, bad, and quirky. However, the good far outweighed the bad. The Good: price point, super quiet, spacious, and has just about everything you need. Beds were comfortable and they provided plenty of linens. The Bad: It was cold downstairs and there was only one portable radiator. Unfortunately, this was not enough to heat both bedrooms. The couch is abysmal! You sink a foot when you sit down. Thankfully, there were two chairs to sit in. The Quirky: The color scheme is quite something and the overall layout of the place is strange. I thought it was fun, but my husband did not care for the quirkiness. I would stay at Summertime IV again. The price and the quiet are worth the horrible couch!
The Summertime rentals are college dorm housing during the school year and they look it. Listing photos are many years old. Summertime IV is run down, has safety issues, general maintenance issues, had hair in shower, had dried up contacts on rug. Good beds, plenty of towels, outside space is atrocious, kitchen oddly appointed (has a pan for making madeleines but no potholders or hand soap). Ran into someone there who said no one is really in charge, there's someone to fix emergency issues and that's it. I wish I could include photos. This house should not be rented to anyone.
Easy walk to town and bike trails. Pet friendly plus the College of the Atlantic was a short walk with a great open field. Plenty of space for the 5 adults. Maintenance was quick to respond to our 'punch list'. The cleaning crew was excellent. A handyman for a day would address the small stuff. We rented 3 of the 4 units and the 4th was vacant so it was our own compound for the week. A great family vacation.
Pet friendly, great for dogs, cute house in an excellent location. Would be 5 stars, but some appliances did not work (dryer, tea kettle, some plumbing issues).
