Rating
Good location. Poor rental company/cleaners
I put this in the "you get what you pay for" category. The price was in our budget and the location was pretty good, so we took a chance on the concerning reviews about cleanliness and chose this property. My two kids who are recent college grads thought it was just great. I thought it felt like a college apartment with some of the furniture being kindof rickety, stained, scratched, and musty, and the carpet showing a good bit of wear. Decor is sparse. The kitchen was outfitted adequately, if somewhat haphazardly. Plates, bowls, glasses, and cookware were sufficient for a group of 6 (we were only 3), and utensils were random, but included the basics (corkscrew, can opener, spatula, sharp knives). There is no carryover for salt, spices, oils, etc., so be sure to bring all that you will need. The beds are comfortable and the sheets were clean. The bathrooms are spacious, and it's nice to have the half-bath on the floor with the kitchen and living room. Laundry detergent was provided. The location is convenient to the village center, but not IN it, and not easily walkable, but walkable if you don't have options. Parking in the village center in the summer is a challenge, so there were some days where we drove around for 45 minutes hoping to get lucky with a space when we said we should have just walked it. It is also easy access to the entry points into Acadia NP. Given that this was $1,000 less expensive than equivalent properties in the village center, we took a chance on it, and considered it a good value, albeit nothing fancy and yeah, not sparkling cleaning, but generally OK.
We came up for a work/play stay and this condo was perfect. We brought our dogs and were able to work during the day while enjoying the balcony and the view. Once we were free we could easily walk nearby paths to explore the area. We didn't walk into Bar Harbor but we could have! We walked over to the nearby hotel for dinner one night; great to be between hotel properties but still feel secluded. I'd love to stay here again.
Best part about this home is the amount of space it has and the location. Staying here is about a 20 minute walk to the downtown of Bar Harbor, and this home has 2 bedrooms, a living room, dining room, kitchen, washer/dryer, 2.5 baths as well as a deck and patio. This home does need some updates - furniture, decor, etc. But it does have everything you need to crash and have a place to stay. We had no issue with parking spaces and the view from the deck was nice.
Nice view and just a 30-minute walk from downtown, and the price is nice for a spacious 2 b.r./2.5 bath (especially compared to all the expensive hotels and B&Bs in the area). But the unit is shabby and needs some TLC. There are mold spots on the bathroom ceilings, the refrigerator door was broken, and the furnishings are scuffed and worn.
