AI-generated from guest reviews for this property

KenMa Cottage is described as a charming, unique, and peaceful retreat with a vintage rustic character that guests found magical, relaxing, and full of seaside Maine charm. Guests appreciated the comfortable beds, cozy atmosphere, welcoming interior, full kitchen setup, thoughtful touches like books and games, and the beautifully decorated all-wood cabin feel. The cottage is noted as clean, tidy, well maintained, and tucked into a quiet, fairly private waterfront setting that feels secluded and serene. Its oceanfront location near the harbor is especially valued, with easy access to a rocky shoreline and a magnificent porch and deck that quickly became favorite places to unwind. Guests repeatedly praised the stunning ocean views, spectacular sunsets, and opportunities to watch fishing boats, wildlife, and the water from the property. KenMa Cottage also stands out for its dog-friendly appeal, fireplace, firewood availability, and the simple unplugged experience that helps guests slow down and enjoy the natural surroundings.

Overview

Experience the serene vacation off the grid you've always wanted at KenMa cabin. This oceanfront cottage is all about peace and quiet, the kind that comes from sitting on a deck overlooking the water and reading a book or walking along rocks smoothed by the sea. A place where time is only measured by the tides, lobster boats coming in from the haul, or the sun sinking behind the spikey pines across the water.

Kendrick Marshall (or KenMa, for short) ran the Port Clyde General Store in the early 1900s and was a descendant of the owner of Marshall Point Lighthouse, just 2 miles away. His ancestors still own the cabin, which is a great spot for a dog with quiet walks through the woods or down the road to Port Clyde village.

The cabin includes an eat-in kitchen with an electric stove, sink, refrigerator, microwave, water dispenser, and coffee maker. The living room has a stone fireplace for cooler days, and a small bathroom and cozy bedroom are tucked in the back. The covered deck is just feet from the shore and overlooks the many islands of Muscongus Bay. In the mornings, lobster boats work nearby; in the afternoons, sailboats and kayaks glide by. Great books, good conversation, strolls along the shore, and walks to the village replace the need for electronics.

Great veiw,Great porch, not for those wanting fine amenities, but has all you need, fairly private and very close to the water,we had a great time there, even though it got pretty cold at night,as the only heat in the house is a small heater in bedroom, it does the job to keep the bedroom warm, but not the rest of the cabin, fireplace comes in handy, great cabin and spot if your looking for a more quiet and clamping type experience.

A million-dollar view

This isn’t glamping—it’s time-traveling (in the best possible way). If you’ve ever wanted to unplug from the digital world and step into a simpler, slower pace of life, this rustic cabin is your ticket. The drive in feels like you’re heading to the end of the Earth, but once you arrive, the peace, quiet, and jaw-dropping views make it all worth it. The cabin was built in the 1800s and wears its history proudly. Translation: no insulation, no Wi-Fi, no TV, no AC, and the only heat source is a fireplace. The water? Saltier than the ocean. But that’s all part of the charm. Instead of screens, you get crackling fires, old books, board games (bring a few favorites of your own), and the kind of cozy atmosphere money can’t buy. We did have cell service, which was just enough to check directions or Google restaurants when needed. The deck is hands-down the showstopper. Watching the sun sink into the horizon night after night never got old. A short path takes you down to your own private waterfront. It’s not sandy—it’s a classic rocky Maine shoreline—but perfect for lounging in a chair, listening to the waves, and hunting for sea glass and the most incredible rocks. Yes, it’s secluded, but you’re still under 30 minutes from Rockland, where you’ll find every modern convenience (and some excellent restaurants). That balance of remote and accessible was just right. If you’re looking for luxury, this isn’t it. But if you’re looking to disconnect, slow down, and soak in Maine at its most magical, you won’t find a better spot.

We had a wonderful stay at this simple, cozy oceanfront cottage. The location is beautiful with stunning views and a peaceful deck that quickly became our favorite spot to relax. The cottage itself is comfortable and welcoming, and we’re already planning to return. A couple of things mentioned in past reviews were not an issue for us: there was plenty of firewood available in the shed, and although the tap water is salty, we found a 5-gallon spring water dispenser in the kitchen that was very helpful. A couple of maintenance items were noted (a small leak and a pest issue), which we reported to the property management team after our stay. They have been very responsive, so we suspect these will be addressed for future guests. Overall, this is a lovely, quiet place to unwind, and we look forward to coming back!
