Distinctive decor such as seafaring art, handmade boats, artwork, puzzles, albums, and ironstone dinnerware adds memorable character throughout Wiley Cove.

Overview

This wonderfully renovated 1940s cottage is about 1,500 square feet and is furnished with antiques and comfortable furniture. Situated on the St. George River, the cottage sits 20 feet back from Wiley Cove at the end of a half-mile dirt road in Cushing, about five miles from Thomaston. There are lobster boats working right in front of the house in the river, and wildlife abounds. There are two deep water moorings, available for boats, directly in front of the cottage. The house also has its own beach for swimming and exploring just below a wonderful big deck that hangs over the water and offers amazing views.

Port Clyde and the open ocean are just down the river. This fishing village is located on the opposite shore, at the end of the St. George Peninsula, and is accessible by boat or by car. It has a kitchen with a lovely dining area. The house also has a washer and dryer and monitor heaters in the bathrooms. There is another bed in the guest house where you will also find a half bath.

What a wonderful property. The waterfront was gorgeous. We enjoyed the seals, dolphins and bald eagles. Thanks for sharing your piece of paradise.

From the rustic seafaring art, handmade boats and the ironstone dinnerware, this place has the charming aesthetics for the quintessential Maine cottage in the woods. Loved the deck on the water.

The charm of an 1800’s artist’s home with views that automatically lower your pulse. If you are wishing for a spotless, modern home with new furniture, a dishwasher and updated appliances, this is not the house for you. If you want old school charm, impeccable views, privacy, peace and quiet while watching memorizing river tides, water fowl and a few lobster boats, this is your place for you. To that end, the pros are the privacy, views, all of the quirky nicknacks, taxidermy fish, artwork, old albums, wooden boat collection, puzzles (which we added generously to). The cons are many missing window screens to allow these gorgeous winds come through and it could use a very deep clean. We enjoyed using the gas grill, deck furniture and umbrella. All three bedrooms were great and the beds and sheet quality were wonderful. We had plenty of towels. The stackable washer and dryer upstairs is convenient but could use to be balanced (very loud on the lowest spin cycle). We did not use the auxiliary bedroom but that is quite convenient as it has a half bath. The house would comfortably sleep 8.
