Overview

Surround yourself with tranquil country charm at this three-bedroom Harpswell cottage, an atmospheric Midcoast Maine retreat with a private deck, lovely views of an inlet of Casco Bay, and a wonderful position only 200 feet from the water.

Beautifully situated on the eastern shores of Sebascodegan Island (or Great Island as it is locally known), this two-level home is located just across the water from Long Island. You'll be a short sail, paddle, or drive from greater Casco Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, 10 miles south of Brunswick, 12 miles south of Bath, and 35 miles east of downtown Portland.

The open living space is full of light and casual comfort, creating an ideal destination for couples' trips or summer vacations with friends and family. Step inside to admire hardwood floors, knotty pine walls and ceilings, and large windows that frame the verdant, tree-lined property.

Use the WiFi to post photos of your hiking, kayaking, and sailing adventures, or curl up on the sofa with a good book from the shelves. Sit down at the desk by the window to finish an afternoon journal entry, or choose from a collection of movies to watch on the cable TV and DVD player.

Begin each morning in the charming kitchen, a wrap-around space that offers modern appliances and plentiful storage for goods from the Brunswick Farmers Market. Brew coffee as you gaze at the bay, set the kitchen table or the window-side dining table for breakfast.

In the sparkling months of summer, you can open the deck doors to let in the coastal breezes, walk 200 feet to the water's edge, or light the gas grill for a fresh seafood lunch on the lawn.

With three bedrooms and one full bathroom, the Harpswell Bay House will accommodate a total of six guests. The bedrooms are full of character, each offering a double bed with a quilted coverlet. The bathroom features an antique claw-foot bathtub with a showerhead for your convenience.

Whether you're a first-time visitor to Harpswell or making an annual visit to Maine, you'll be enchanted by the natural beauty of this peaceful peninsula and its nearby islands. Stop by ALERT Windjammer Cruises or H2Outfitters to spend a day sailing or kayaking in Casco Bay, or take an easy but spectacular hike along the Giant's Stairs Trail or the Cliff Trail that overlooks Long Reach.

Drive a quick 13 miles north to explore the region's rich seafaring history at the Maine Maritime Museum, or head 27 miles east to stroll on the wide sand beach at the beloved Popham Beach State Park. You'll also be a quick day trip from downtown Portland - Maine's largest city and the home of such culinary gems as Fore Street, The Honey Paw, and Eventide Oyster Co.

The glorious shores of Midcoast Maine will be just outside your door - reserve your stay at this Harpswell cottage today!

We loved being able to at least partially see the ocean. The home is on a cul-de-sac in a quiet neighborhood. It was a lovely getaway from the hustle and bustle! The decor was cute and fit the cottage perfectly.

We loved this cottage. Was super cozy and had everything we needed for a short stay.

This is a quaint cottage, that is secluded, clean, comfortable and affordable. There have been some other reviews regarding the “water”. It is indeed hard water which does smells like sulfur. The smell is manageable and the water is clean. We look forward to staying here again in the future. Thank you for sharing your happy place with us!

The vacation here was great. We had a couple of bumps in the road but after a text or phone call, your issue was solved in under 5 minutes. It was very peaceful and quiet here.

Really nice view. Appliances all worked. Plates and glasses were good. I thought the house would be a very close walk to the water but it wasn't. The walk was about 1/3 of a mile. Pictures were deceiving.
