Rating
The location is great for entrance to Acadia National Park and downtown Bar Harbor.
House was fine. Best aspect was proximity to town.
I scheduled this rental back in the winter. I checked the reviews before we left and was nervous about our stay. I was pleasantly surprised to have very few issues with this house. Our trip was all about spending time in Acadia, not hanging out at the house. We ate, slept and recuperated in front of the living room TV. This house is not someone's home, it's a rental. It feels like a rental. The only issues we had were the refrigerator is still leaking water, one of the bedroom doors would not open, and the back door does not have a proper lock. Honestly, the door was my only concern, but there is a piece of wood to keep the sliding door from opening. Overall, it was clean and had what we needed.
Location great but cleanliness terrible. Adm fees very high, doubles the nightly rate. In previous reviews nothing was fixed: sliding door doesn’t lock so bugs come in, fridge still leaking….needs major cleaning, painting and furniture worst than college dorm. Nothing like the photos.
This house is run down. It is very obvious that this use to be where college students lived. All room has a letter above it. Room A B and C. Walked in the curtains don't fit the window. some windows only have 1 panel when it should be two. one bedroom no shades at all. A lamp was plugged in with no lamp shade and no bulb. That was just in the living room. Get into bedrooms the carpet have stains all over the place. So dirty looking. The bathroom in the master, had a curtain rod with no curtain. The toilet seat is broke in the master bedroom. it would move every time you sat down on it. The pictures on the website show tvs in every bedroom but they had no remotes and one bedroom the tv was in the closet with the dresser.Another lamp in one of the bedrooms had a bulb but no shade. The guest bathroom shower liner was yellowing on the bottom. The tub would not drain properly. They told me just try to plunge the tub that it probably has hair and sand in it it. Toilet brush next to the toilet that was brown and crusty looking The bed in both guest rooms when you lay down you sink into the middle of the bed. On the third day of stay they sent someone to bring in two new box springs. I am sot sure that they even were new box springs there was no plastic wrap over them could have been used ones for all i know but they were better then the old ones. I have pictures of this place the pictures on their website does not look like what I walked into. I want a supervisor to call me to discuss this matter.
We really liked the location of the home. The issues we had: the refrigerator was leaking water all over our food inside of the fridge; my daughter’s bedroom window had no blind and no privacy curtain. The blind had been broken off and never replaced so no privacy; two bedrooms were very small; the mattresses were hard and caved in the center. As much as we paid for the property we expected better sleeping conditions and at least a returned call when we called about the leaking fridge and the other issues.
