Overview
A great location with modern updates make this condo a special place to stay in Camden. “The Hobbit Hutch” is one of six uniquely named units inside The Bean House - an elegant, historic home built in 1856 by renowned Atlantic Coast shipbuilder Holly M. Bean. Anchoring one end of Main Street, the home overlooks the life and energy of downtown Camden. Restaurants, shops, Camden Harbor, Laite Beach, and State Park hiking trails are all just steps from the front door.
The Space
This large, freshly renovated one-bedroom second floor condo is filled with natural light pouring through new windows. Every room has been updated, including the kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen features granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances, while hardwood floors flow throughout the unit (with tile in the bathroom). With a queen bedroom and full sized pull out couch in the living room for extra space, it's a comfortable, modern space wrapped in historic charm. The renovated spacious bathroom has a glass cornered shower.
Guest Access
A free washer and dryer are located in the basement of the main building. Enter through the big red door off the front porch, the basement door is on the left past the stairs toward the back of the foyer.
Other Things to Note
While the condo has been updated, it remains part of a 166+ year-old building, offering a blend of old character and modern comfort.
Most of the unit names were passed down from a former owner who ran the Bean House as a bed and breakfast before the conversion to condos. Inspired by classic literature, the units carry names such as Camelot, Hobbit Hutch, Upstairs Downstairs, Room With a View, Garden View, and Age of Innocence - adding to the building's unique charm and story.
