Overview
Morning light floods the valley views from your hilltop perch above Calistoga's vineyards. Slip into the private pool or hot tub as deer wander past the property line. This modern farmhouse sleeps 6 in three king bedrooms — the master suite has its own en suite bathroom, while the other two bedrooms share a bathroom. Just 1.5 miles from Tom Eddy Winery and 4 miles to Calistoga's famous hot springs on Lincoln Avenue.
This 3,600-square-foot modern farmhouse greets you with floor-to-ceiling windows framing Franz Valley's mountains and vineyards. Vaulted ceilings with exposed wood beams create an airy retreat that feels sophisticated yet welcoming. You'll gather around the gas fireplace beneath a circular iron chandelier, with striped sofa and geometric armchairs facing massive window walls that blur indoors and out. The chef's kitchen pairs blue-gray island cabinetry with dark marble countertops under glass pendants, bar seating, and stainless steel appliances. Dine at the wood table with valley views beside a floor-to-ceiling glass wine storage room. A Keurig ensures easy mornings. OUTDOOR LIVING Your wraparound deck delivers mountain panoramas — shaded dining, teak loungers, and a private heated pool with spa for afternoon dips. A separate hot tub on its own platform invites stargazing, while the BBQ makes alfresco dining effortless. Deer and wild turkeys frequent the grounds. SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS Three king suites each include a private bathroom. The primary features corner windows with mountain vistas and deck access, the second a black metal bed frame against forest views, and the third another peaceful retreat. Hardwood floors and crisp white linens throughout. Sleeps 6. PROPERTY AMENITIES -- Private heated pool (Oct, Nov, Apr & May only) -- Private hot tub -- Gas fireplace -- Air conditioning -- Full chef's kitchen -- Washer/dryer -- Wi-Fi -- Large screen TV -- Wine storage room -- BBQ grill -- Multiple deck areas -- Parking for 2
Pour from the floor-to-ceiling glass wine room, swim laps in the heated pool, and let the mountain and valley views do the rest — pure Calistoga back-country. The whole estate is yours, with a private hot tub, a gas fireplace, BBQ, and outdoor dining at the pool. Grab the key from the lockbox; pull into the driveway, and follow Franz Valley School Road in (Google Maps is reliable when GPS stops short).
Your Franz Valley location puts you in the peaceful hills above Calistoga, where vineyards and wilderness meet. Tom Eddy Winery is just 1.7 miles away, with Storybook Mountain Winery even closer at 1.5 miles. For a unique experience, The Petrified Forest's ancient redwood giants are only 2.1 miles from your door. Downtown Calistoga's famous Lincoln Avenue awaits 4 miles away, where you can walk between spa resorts, tasting rooms, and restaurants. Cal Mart grocery is 4 miles for provisions, while Lovina restaurant (4 miles) serves California cuisine in a charming setting. For casual dining, Buster's Original Southern BBQ is 4 miles away, or try Local Q 707 at 3.1 miles for barbecue closer to home. Outdoor enthusiasts will love having Pepperwood Preserve just 2.2 miles away, while the popular Oat Hill Mine Trailhead is 4.1 miles. Several small family wineries dot Franz Valley School Road, including TNT Vineyards (1.8 miles) and Helena View Johnston Vineyards (1.9 miles).
Calistoga is about 90 minutes from San Francisco via I-80 and Highway 29 — a scenic drive up to the northern end of Napa Valley. The driveway accommodates 2 vehicles — note that GPS sometimes stops short, so use Google Maps as backup and ensure you enter Franz Valley School Road (not Franz Valley Road). A car makes the valley easy to explore — tasting rooms, restaurants, and vineyards are spread from Calistoga south through Napa. For tasting days, plan a designated driver or book a rideshare ahead — it makes the whole day easier.
The home features high-speed internet for reliable connectivity. While the property doesn't have security cameras, the gated entry provides privacy and security. The modern design stays naturally cool thanks to the hillside elevation and cross-ventilation through those spectacular window walls, complemented by air conditioning for warmer days. The pool is heated and available for swimming in October, November, April, and May — during peak summer (June-August) the pool is refreshing without heat, and it's closed December through March. The primary renter must be 25 or older. The glass wine storage room makes a stunning display for any bottles you collect during your stay. Wildlife sightings are common — deer and wild turkeys frequently visit the property, especially in early morning and evening hours. The multiple deck areas catch sun at different times of day, so you can follow the light or find shade as desired.

The house was in the most ideal location, with a great set up perfect for a girls weekend. You’re close to both Napa and Sonoma if your wine tasting the views are spectacular and the home is so comfortable.
Brand new construction, the house is amazing, every detail has been thought out. The rooms are away from the living space, the kitchen was fully stocked for cooking. We really enjoyed the living room picture window, bird watching, enjoying our wine.... It is up in hill a bit, we had planned to cook in, so had already done the grocery shopping, but double check location before booking. You will not want to leave, so bring it all in! Its the ideal house for a few couples, or a girls trip!b. We will be back!
This is one of the best rental properties I’ve stayed at. The house was breathtaking and secluded. The photos don’t do it justice. Nestled in the hills of Calistoga, it is the perfect place for a group. Incredible deck, and a cozy, modern interior.
Everything about this place was perfect for a relaxing few days spent lounging by the pool, soaking up the panoramic views, and enjoying the many amenities within the house. Any questions or concerns we had were quickly addressed and we appreciated how communicative everyone was during our stay. We plan to return and look forward to our next visit!
