Overview
A stone fireplace anchors this peaceful forest hideaway, where towering redwoods shade every window. Gather around the stone fireplace or grill dinner on the deck while kids play in the enclosed yard — this 2-bedroom cottage sleeps 4 comfortably. Just 500 feet to the Russian River beach and a mile from Lightwave Coffee. Your days here move at redwood pace — slow, grounded, and deeply restorative among these ancient giants.
Honey-toned wood ceilings soar overhead and skylights scatter dappled forest light across this 894-square-foot contemporary cabin in Monte Rio. Custom woodwork and vintage architectural touches greet you at every turn, creating a retreat where rustic charm and modern comfort exist in easy balance beneath the redwood canopy. The heart of the home draws you to a dramatic floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace wall — load up the wood-burning fireplace and settle into the gray sectional sofa for a fireside evening. A colorful abstract area rug warms the light hardwood floors, while large sliding glass doors open completely to merge indoor and outdoor living. Track lighting and skylights in the vaulted ceiling keep the space bright and airy even on foggy days. The kitchen is just steps away, with white cabinets trimmed in wood, white appliances, and a skylight above that brightens meal prep. Yellow bar stools pull up to a small breakfast bar for casual bites, and the adjacent dining area showcases a dark wood table with orange modern chairs, positioned beside sliding doors that frame the deck and the forest beyond. OUTDOOR LIVING Multiple redwood-stained decks expand your living space into the trees. The main deck invites you to linger with built-in seating, a glass-top coffee table, and wooden outdoor furniture. Fire up the stainless steel gas grill for forest dining. A unique curved slide connects the upper and lower deck levels — pure whimsy among the redwoods. The enclosed yard provides safe play space for children. SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS The primary bedroom cradles you beneath vaulted wood-plank ceilings, with a queen bed and an orange upholstered chair and ottoman tucked by the window as a cozy reading nook. A decorative dreamcatcher adorns the wall. The second bedroom offers a comfortable double bed under the same soaring wood ceilings that echo the home's cabin character. The cottage sleeps 4 guests. PROPERTY AMENITIES -- 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom -- Wood-burning fireplace (wood provided) -- Gas grill -- Full kitchen with all cookware and dishware -- Internet access (note: limited cell service in area) -- Smart TV -- Multiple redwood decks -- Enclosed yard -- Parking for 2 vehicles -- No washer/dryer -- No air conditioning (home stays naturally cool under redwood canopy)
Step into a great room rising to a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace wall, send the kids down the curved deck slide between levels, and let the skylights handle the rest. You've got the whole home, with a wood-burning fireplace, BBQ, outdoor dining, an enclosed yard, and a balcony among the trees. Punch in the keypad code at the door; one car fits in the driveway or parallel to the gate, with overflow across the street.
Villa Grande's artistic hamlet surrounds you with towering redwoods and river culture. Walk just 500 feet to reach the Russian River beach — perfect for swimming, floating, or launching a kayak adventure. The Monte Rio Community Beach (0.8 miles) offers volleyball courts, picnic areas, and seasonal watercraft rentals for family fun. Start mornings with excellent coffee at Lightwave Coffee & Kitchen (1.2 miles), serving Middle Eastern-inspired breakfast and lunch. Stock up on essentials at nearby Fern's Market (1.0 miles) or Bartlett's Market (1.0 miles). For dinner, the historic Highland Dell Lodge (1.1 miles) serves German-American cuisine in a 1906 building, while Boho Manor (1.1 miles) offers a Gatsby-themed dining experience with river views. Golfers shouldn't miss Northwood Golf Club (under 2 miles) — a legendary Alister MacKenzie-designed course winding through the redwoods.
Monte Rio is about 90 minutes from San Francisco via 101 and River Road — a winding drive through redwoods and river country. You'll find parking for one vehicle in the driveway, plus space for another car parallel to the gate. Additional overflow parking sits across the street along the wood fence. A car makes the Russian River Valley easy to explore, from redwood trails to riverside wineries. Cell service gets patchy in the redwoods, so downloading offline maps before you arrive is worth it.
This home features two security cameras for your safety: one outward-facing camera on the front deck and another outward-facing camera on the front porch, both with audio capability. Important: Cell service is extremely limited here, and the home sits in a dead internet zone. Save your check-in instructions and any important information before arriving, as you won't be able to access emails once here. The home's internet works well once you're connected to Wi-Fi. The cottage stays naturally cool thanks to the shading redwood canopy — most days you'll find the forest breeze is all you need. On the warmest summer afternoons, fans help circulate the air. The EV charger visible on the property is not available for guest use. Quiet hours run from 9 PM to 8 AM to preserve the peaceful atmosphere. The primary renter must be 21 or older. Please note this property doesn't include laundry facilities, so pack accordingly for your forest retreat.

Loved the location and the home
The home was perfect. As a small family of 3 it suited our needs well. Love the redwood beauty of the backyard and neighborhood, the short walk to the community beach, and the overall location. We’ll be back!
We had a great time grilling over the holiday weekend and spending time at the river. Great location for cycling with Occidental and Cazedero within easy distance. Thanks for a great stay!
We had a wonderfully comfortable and cozy weekend at Terra Haven. The space was perfect for relaxing after sunny days full of river fun, where we watched osprey gliding overhead and diving for fish. We explored peaceful coastal trails bursting with wildflowers, and ended each day BBQing dinner on the deck, surrounded by the sounds of nature. It was the ideal escape—scenic, restful, and so easy to settle into. Highly recommend!
Lovely place surrounded by the forest ! Very charming :)
We loved the coziness! And everything was well kept and clean! The redwoods & the river are beautiful!! Even though it was a quick 2 1/2 day trip for us, we had all the amenities that we needed. My son ended up sleeping on the sofa instead of sharing the double bed with his sister & he said that he slept great! Plus that was the room with the tv, so he was able to get in some Netflix. :-) It was great having a full sized fridge. The oven wasn’t working, but the stovetop was great! And the air fryer/oven was perfect for toast, but trying to bake a pizza was a little challenging. No worries though, we made it work. The multi decks were great for relaxing! The dog loved his stay, too. He felt right at home after sniffing and exploring every nook and cranny. Thank you for allowing pets! One tip: you may want to bring a flashlight if you get in after the sun goes down. It is pretty dark out there! There is a flashlight indoors that we discovered after we were settled in, though. All in all, this was an amazing spot for a small family of 4 and our little furry pup! We loved our stay! Thank you!
