Punch in the keypad code at the door; one car parks at the bottom of the steep gravel drive, with a second spot up top.
Deep in the redwood-shrouded hills of Cazadero, you're truly away from it all. Cazadero General Store sits just 2.3 miles away for basic provisions and local character. For a wider selection, Bartlett's Market in Forestville is 4.3 miles, while Safeway in Guerneville is 3.9 miles. When hunger strikes, Saucy Mama's (3.7 mi) serves comfort food, while Guerneville Taco Truck (3.9 mi) offers authentic Mexican. For special occasions, The Lodge at Dawn Ranch (3.8 mi) provides upscale dining. Wine lovers can explore Fort Ross Vineyard Tasting Room (6.6 mi) for dramatic coastal views with your wine, or historic Korbel Winery (5.8 mi) for sparkling wine tours. Outdoor adventures abound — hike among ancient giants at Armstrong Redwoods (15 minutes south), explore 20 miles of trails at Austin Creek State Recreation Area, or drive 20 minutes to dramatic Goat Rock Beach (4.8 mi) where the Russian River meets the Pacific.
Cazadero is about an hour and 45 minutes from San Francisco via 101 and River Road — a scenic drive into a quiet redwood canyon. You'll find parking for one vehicle at the property, either at the bottom of the steep drive or potentially at the top depending on your vehicle and weather. A car makes the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast easy to explore, from redwood groves to coastal bluffs. Cell service gets patchy in the redwoods, so downloading offline maps before you arrive is worth it.
The cottage stays naturally cool thanks to the redwood canopy overhead — you'll find the forest shade and cross-ventilation through multiple windows keeps temperatures comfortable without air conditioning. While the photos show a washer/dryer, these are not available for guest use during your stay. The primary renter must be 21 or older. The smart lock requires a steady hand — if the light flashes red, simply wait 5 seconds for it to reset and try again. After 3 incorrect attempts, the lock enters a 30-second timeout. WiFi is provided, though speeds can vary in this remote location — perfect for checking email but not for heavy streaming. Embrace the digital detox! The wood-burning stove creates magical ambiance (firewood not provided). Your dog will love the forest paths right from the door — just keep them leashed as wildlife frequents the area. The multi-level deck and stairs throughout the cottage may not suit those with mobility concerns.

Deck and hot tub was great Peaceful
The heater was broken, the stove was not working without a lighter(atleast advertise that and make sure there are lighters in the house because the one we eventually found died on day 2), there should be a clearing of all of the spider webs in the bedroom, porch, and furniture outside near the hot tub(the amount showed they are not routinely cleaned), and offer some support when your told the cabin is freezing. I should not have had to buy blankets and wood. The compensation back of a little more than $50 after I spent $830 to stay in a freezing cold cabin was laughable. And don't up the price in an outrageous manner to customers who, upon first entering, immediately called to give you more money for an extra night. That was absolutely horrible and I will never use Vacasa again.
Very cute well appointed cabin. Heads up that you should bring your own firewood for the woodstove. Check in and checkout are 10am, and 4pm respectively, which is a little rough.
•Driveway needs to be filled in/leveled out. Will need experience, or a 4x4 to get out. •Exterior lighting needs to be added. Do not recommend checking in after dark. •Lock system for door is alright for location, but could be updated with some more secure doors. •Stairwell to loft/upstairs is extremely steep (not really dog friendly). •Bathroom floor is buckling/has dry rot underneath tile. •Toilet moves/isn't secure. •No privacy - hot tub can be seen from the road & there’s a 360° view around the cabin/property as well. Neighbors are on every side. Even some above you, located on the higher roads. Looking down onto the property. •Portable heaters have melted plugs. •Gas heater on bottom floor works well, but randomly shuts off. Doesn’t get much heat upstairs without portable ones in use. •Hot water heater isn’t big enough for a full bath. Only about 1/3 of a the tub. •Hot tub temp was set to 90° - with the top off for less than 10 mins it was getting cold. Buttons to change temp are frustrating as they are old. Makes heating up the tub frustrating. •No cooking utensils for high heat, only plastic ones are provided. •House rules request you, “wash & put away your dishes,” but there’s no drying rack to be found. •Entire property is steep. If you have balance issues or poor stability I would not recommend this spot. •No dog bowls for water •No water cups, only mugs. Overall a cute idea, but the upgrades needed here didn’t make the price worth it for me, unfortunately. Was really looking forward to a relaxing getaway, but found myself a little more stressed than anticipated. Hopefully, seeing as I was the last guest of October - they can make the changes for 2026. Would love to go back after upgrades are completed!
The Dreamcatcher Cottage was right out of my dreams for a trip to the Redwoods. The surroundings are beautiful & the cabin lovely & cozy. My dog & I enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you for having us.
This is an adorable rustic cottage in the red woods with the added bonus of a hot tub. We were perfectly comfortable staying in the cottage and not going anywhere, especially since it was raining the first couple days we were there. We would sit in the hot tub between rain showers and bask in the beauty and peacefulness of being in the red woods. At the price point and for the quaintness and the hot tub it's well worth the stay. I will say it wasn't as secluded as I thought it was going to be. The road was close to the cottage and was a bit busier than expected. Not terrible just not what we were thinking. The driveway to the cottage is very steep so if renting a vehicle, like we did, I would recommend something with AWD. We had a Nissan Altima and we made it out ok but it spun a bit the first time trying to get out. Since it had rained a couple days it was a little muddy, which didn't help. You definately want to make sure no ones coming down the road from either direction when you're ready to get out since the road to get there is only one lane wide. If you're not used to driving on step grades with sharp curves it could be a bit nerve racking. The bed and the sofa were not the most comfortable and there could have been a bit more attention to detail spent when cleaning but again the hot tub and the price made it worth while. Overall, it was worth the stay. It's close to cute little villages and the coast. The scenery is breathtaking.
