Overview
Slip into your private heated pool as the sun filters through ancient oaks on this secluded 5-acre estate. Your resort-style retreat features a spa, bocce court, and sprawling patio with grand outdoor fireplace — room for 5 in three bedrooms. Just 1.1 miles from Jack London State Historic Park and Glen Ellen Star's wood-fired kitchen. The heart of Sonoma Valley wine country surrounds you, yet total privacy awaits behind your gate.
California ranch architecture unfolds across five private acres of Glen Ellen countryside, where white oak floors, skylights, and expansive windows dissolve the boundary between indoors and out. The great room draws you in with soaring wood beam cathedral ceilings and vineyard valley views. Sink into contemporary sofas and stream favorites on the wall-mounted TV, or slip into the second living area beside the fireplace. The chef's kitchen revolves around a massive wooden island with gas stovetop, prep sink, and bar seating — quartz countertops, farmhouse sink, double ovens, and espresso machine stand ready. French doors connect dining with the patio. OUTDOOR LIVING A heated pool and integrated spa sparkle beneath a shading pergola. A grand outdoor fireplace anchors the patio where you can fire up the gas grill. Challenge your group on the bocce court, drift to Adirondack chairs by the seasonal creek, or admire the working half-acre vineyard. Mature oaks and olive trees shade the grounds. SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS Three bedrooms sleep five. The primary suite holds a king bed with French doors to the grounds. The second offers a queen with spherical pendant lighting. The third queen bedroom features direct outdoor access. PROPERTY AMENITIES -- Private heated pool and spa -- Air conditioning throughout -- Washer and dryer -- High-speed internet -- Smart TV with streaming -- Gas grill -- Bocce ball court -- Three-car driveway parking -- Working vineyard on property
Step into a cathedral-beamed great room and slide the doors open onto the heated pool and its integrated spa under a pergola — mature oaks holding the privacy in. You've got the whole home, with a private hot tub and a jetted tub for the cool-down. Punch in the keypad code on arrival; follow the gravel road up to the yellow house and park up to three cars in the driveway (the lower guest house is owner-only).
Your Glen Ellen retreat sits in the heart of Sonoma Valley wine country, where literary history meets world-class wines. Walk the trails where Jack London found inspiration at his state park just 1.1 miles away, or bike to Benziger Family Winery (0.8 mi) for their famous biodynamic tractor tour. The charming village center lies 1.2 miles down the road — home to Michelin-recognized Glen Ellen Star (1.1 mi), French pastries at Les Pascals (1.2 mi), and the farm-to-table Songbird Parlour (1.6 mi). Stock up on provisions at Glen Ellen Village Market (1.2 mi) or discover small-lot wines at Laurel Glen Vineyard (1.2 mi). Evening strolls might take you to Morton's Warm Springs (1.6 mi) for a nightcap or Garden Court Cafe (1.2 mi) for tomorrow's breakfast plans. The intimate scale of Glen Ellen means everything feels close yet you'll enjoy complete privacy on your 5 acres.
Glen Ellen is about 75 minutes from San Francisco via 101 and Highway 12 — a scenic drive through Sonoma Valley vineyards. Your driveway accommodates 3 vehicles comfortably. A car makes Sonoma Valley easy to explore — tasting rooms, restaurants, and parks run up and down Highway 12. For tasting days, plan a designated driver or book a rideshare ahead — it makes the whole day easier.
The home stays naturally cool thanks to mature oak shade and cross-ventilation, though air conditioning keeps you comfortable on the warmest summer days. Internet service is reliable for streaming and remote work. The outdoor fireplaces create magical ambience but require wax logs like Duraflame — no wood burning permitted. While the property spans 5 acres, you might spot the owners or their guests at the separate guest house above the garage in the parking area. They have their own entrance and won't disturb your privacy. The locked Airstream trailer by the pool belongs to the owners but sits empty during guest stays. This is a quiet, rural setting where you'll hear owls at night and birdsong at dawn. The primary renter must be 25 or older. Note that while you can walk the working vineyard on the property, the grapes belong to the owners — but you're welcome to admire them up close!

Really nice home in Glen Ellen - quiet and private and nice getaway. The outdoor areas were spacious and peaceful, and it was very relaxing to be able to swim in a pool surrounded by trees and wildlife. The kitchen and family rooms were also very nice. Wifi worked great, the whole house was very clean (with the exceptions below). However, the pool condition did not appear to be maintained, as two of us developed a characteristic bacterial skin infection ("hot tub rash") that can occur if chlorine levels are not adequately maintained. Worse, the bed linens and sheets in all 3 rooms had a strong moldy/mildewy odor that was disgusting and made it difficult to sleep. We just left for home instead of stay on the last night. Likely the sheets had been put in the washer but left out damp after use by a previous guest and Vacasa housekeeping just used them anyway. Also, Vacasa customer service made it difficult to get the pool heated in advance. They kept insisting they wouldn't do it because a 3-day stay was required, even though they charged per day of heating. The whole purpose of our stay was to enjoy the pool, this wasn't mentioned in the listing, and it took multiple calls to Vacasa to find someone willing to help us. If the pool were maintained, the sheets weren't moldy, and Vacasa customer service had better hospitality training, then this would easily have been a 5-star rental and we would tell everyone how wonderful it is.
We had a wonderful stay at this property during our visit to wine country. The property was well maintained, quaint and had all amenities needed for our visit. It was exactly as described.
Loved the pool, outside area, although there was more furniture and space than we needed. Deer playing on the hillside, and a quick 1 minute drive into Glen Ellen or 8 to Sonoma.
Great home! Quiet neighborhood. Forest visitors every day. Central to Wine country.
Our family loved the attention to details inside the home, and stunning backyard. We appreciated the fully stocked kitchen and open layout.
Great house. So calm. Easily relaxed. Deers walking the property. Beautiful birds. Wonderful home for families.
