Overview

The scent of redwoods mingles with morning coffee on your private deck, surrounded by towering trees. This dog-friendly retreat sleeps 4 with a unique bunk room perfect for kids. Just half a mile from Steelhead Beach and a mile from downtown Forestville's tasting rooms. Your days unfold between river swims, winery visits, and grilling beneath the canopy — the Russian River Valley at its most authentic.

Modern comforts blend seamlessly with rustic charm in this thoughtfully updated Forestville ranch home. An open floor plan welcomes you with warm wood floors and light gray walls that bring the forest light indoors, setting the stage for lazy riverside days and cozy evenings by the stove. You settle into the gray sofa near a black cast iron wood stove set on a stone platform — the kind of heat that warms you to the bone after a day on the river. A flatscreen TV on the wood media console offers entertainment, while board games and a book collection invite analog evenings. A ceiling fan with wooden blades keeps the air moving on warm afternoons. The full kitchen features light pine cabinets topped with speckled granite counters and stainless steel appliances including a side-by-side refrigerator, dishwasher, and over-range microwave. Red industrial-style pendant lights with schoolhouse glass shades hang above the wooden butcher block island, where four bar stools invite casual meals and morning coffee. The adjacent dining area seats four more at a proper table, large windows framing views of the surrounding greenery. OUTDOOR LIVING Two distinct deck areas expand your living space into the forest. The front deck greets you with Adirondack chairs and a bistro table — your morning coffee spot as birdsong fills the canopy. The larger back deck becomes your outdoor dining room with a full-size table, a stainless steel Brinkmann gas grill, and a hanging egg-style wicker chair that's nearly impossible to leave once you settle in. Horizontal cable railings with wood posts frame the forest views while maintaining an open, airy feel. SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS The master bedroom offers a peaceful retreat with a king bed in a black metal frame, a striking sliding barn door adding rustic character, and exposed ceiling beams with track lighting creating architectural interest. A unique bunk room features two sets of twin bunk beds — four twins total — making this an ideal setup for families with children. A third sleeping space, configured as a studio, includes a double bed. Total capacity: 4 guests. PROPERTY AMENITIES -- Air conditioning for warm summer days -- Wood stove for cozy evenings -- Full kitchen with dishwasher -- Washer and dryer -- High-speed internet (411.8 Mbps down) -- Smart lock entry -- Parking for 2 vehicles in driveway -- Full bathroom with tub/shower combo -- Dog-friendly (max 2 dogs, 25 lbs each)

Light the black cast-iron wood stove in the great room, slide the barn door open in the bedroom, and step out to the multi-level wooden deck deep in the forest. You've got the whole home, dogs welcome, with outdoor dining set up among the trees. Punch in the keypad code at the door; pull up to two cars in the driveway.

Your Forestville retreat puts you at the sweet spot where wine country meets river recreation. Walk just half a mile to splash at Steelhead Beach Regional Park, or drive 5 minutes to launch a canoe trip with Burke's. Downtown Forestville (1 mile) offers intimate tasting rooms like Joseph Jewell Wines and Ryme Cellars, both pouring exceptional local vintages. Stock up on provisions at Speer's Market (1.0 mi), grab wood-fired sourdough at the beloved Nightingale Breads (1.9 mi), or treat yourself to Michelin Guide-listed dining at The Restaurant at Farmhouse Inn (1.4 mi). For pizza night, Sonoma Pizza Co. (2.0 mi) serves 72-hour fermented pies that locals rave about. Wine enthusiasts will love having Moshin Vineyards just 0.6 miles away, with Gary Farrell's panoramic tasting room only 0.8 miles up Westside Road. The West County Regional Trail (1.9 mi) offers 5.5 miles of paved paths through vineyards and farms — perfect for morning runs or evening strolls.

Forestville is about 80 minutes from San Francisco via 101 and River Road — a mellow drive through vineyards and rolling hills. A car is essential for exploring the Russian River Valley — you'll find parking for two vehicles in the driveway. A car makes the Russian River Valley easy to explore, from redwood trails to riverside wineries. Cell service gets patchy in the redwoods, so downloading offline maps before you arrive is worth it.

The home stays naturally cool thanks to the surrounding forest canopy, though air conditioning is available for those warm summer afternoons. Your pups are welcome here (maximum 2 dogs, 25 lbs each) — they'll love exploring the deck and nearby trails. The wood stove creates a cozy ambiance on cool evenings; firewood is typically available at local markets. Internet speeds are excellent for remote work at 411.8 Mbps. While Forestville's downtown is charming, it's quite small — plan to drive to Guerneville or Sebastopol for larger grocery runs or evening entertainment. The primary renter must be 25 or older. The property's forest setting means you might spot local wildlife from the deck — deer are frequent morning visitors. Cell service is generally good but can vary by carrier.

You must be 25 years or older to rent this property.

I specifically asked Vacasa if the backyard was fully fenced because I was traveling with my dog. They said yes. WRONG! Not only was the backyard not fully fenced, you can't even access it directly from the house. You need to go out the front door, down the deck and along the side of the house, which is right next to the road.

This house is surrounded by greenery and has a fenced deck, enabling our dog to enjoy the outdoors without getting lost. The house is very comfortable with lots of spare towels, which we appreciated as the weather was heavy rain during our stay!

This was our second stay at this great place and we enjoyed it very much again. The house has plenty of space for 2 adults and kids. The interior is well kept, clean and updated. Everything is in working condition and plenty of things to do (games, DVD's, toys, streaming options, etc.) The exterior views are fantastic, with forest and orchard views. The price is very fair for this place and we look forward to staying here again in the future.

PROS: clean, good amount of space, heaters warmed quickly, nice loop around patio that connected to all rooms. Great pots and pans, spices, coffee, and a fully stocked kitchen. BBQ is big and worked excellent. Beds and comforters were comfortable. CONS: fireplace doesn’t work. Small windy roads to get to the house. 10-15 min drive to downtown Guerneville.

This house is dirty and poorly maintained and the location reminded me of Deliverance. Did not actually stay there after showing up.
