Overview
Redwood Lodge sleeps 4 adults across two bedrooms, with a third room off the garage for guests who'd rather have their own space. The wraparound deck looks out over the Russian River through redwood crowns. Steps from Northwood Golf Club, a mile from Monte Rio Beach, and dog-friendly. Out here, the only schedule that matters is sunrise and sunset.
Redwood Lodge is a traditional A-frame on the Russian River, with exposed pine-beam cathedral ceilings rising above walls of glass that open onto the redwood canopy. Original lines and warm wood throughout -- not a modern remodel, but a true classic A-frame cabin with all the character that comes with one. River and mountain views frame the 1,100-square-foot interior. Spend mornings on the wraparound deck with coffee and the river canyon below, afternoons on the redwood trails or in the Russian River Valley tasting rooms, and evenings around the dining table comparing notes from the day's bottles. The open living space centers on a dark leather sectional facing the wall-mounted TV, with tile floors, layered area rugs, and large windows framing the redwoods on every side. The galley kitchen, lined with light wood cabinets, comes fully equipped -- dishwasher, full-size fridge, and counter space enough for two cooks. A wooden dining table seats six under a chandelier, with a china cabinet ready for the day's tasting-room finds. OUTDOOR LIVING The wraparound deck makes the most of the hillside -- a dining table with umbrella, a gas grill for riverside barbecues, and lounge seating angled toward the forested ridges and distant mountain views. SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS Two queen-bed bedrooms sleep four adults. One sits on the main floor beside the living area, with its own sliding door onto the deck. The other is a loft bedroom up its own staircase, tucked under the A-frame ceiling and served by a private bathroom. There's no door between the loft and the living area below, so think of it as an open suite — private in feel, but not fully enclosed. A third bedroom off the garage offers a private retreat for guests who'd rather not share -- no central heat, but a space heater is provided. PROPERTY AMENITIES -- 2 bedrooms + private 3rd bedroom off the garage -- Wraparound deck with river-canyon and redwood views -- Dog-friendly (max 2) -- Walking distance to Northwood Golf Club -- Washer and dryer
The whole lodge is yours, including the wraparound deck with outdoor dining and a gas grill. Parking is for up to 2 cars in the narrow driveway. Check-in is at 4 PM via smart-lock keypad code; check-out by 10 AM.
Your Monte Rio retreat sits just 0.1 miles from Northwood Golf Club's legendary Alister MacKenzie-designed course — a bucket-list experience for golfers set among towering redwoods. When you're ready to explore, Bia Cafe is also just 0.1 miles away for your morning coffee. The beloved Monte Rio Beach with its shallow swimming area and volleyball courts is an easy 1-mile journey. For provisions, Fern's Market (0.8 mi) and Bartlett's Market (1.1 mi) offer local goods, while Safeway (1.7 mi) provides full grocery options. Dining ranges from casual to special at Highland Dell Lodge (0.9 mi), a historic 1906 property serving American and German cuisine, or Boho Manor (0.8 mi) with its Gatsby-themed riverfront setting. Wine enthusiasts will love the proximity to Russian River Valley tasting rooms — Porter-Bass Winery is just 1.6 miles away, while the famous Korbel Champagne Cellars sits 2.8 miles east.
Monte Rio is about 90 minutes from San Francisco via 101 and River Road, a winding drive through redwoods and river country. You'll have parking for up to 2 vehicles in the narrow driveway. A car makes the Russian River Valley easy to explore, from redwood trails to riverside wineries. Cell service gets patchy in the redwoods, so downloading offline maps before you arrive is worth it.
The fireplace and wood stove in photos are decorative only -- a portable space heater is in the bedroom off the garage if you need supplemental heat. Occupancy is capped at 4 adults. A set of interior stairs leads up to the main level of the house. The home sits right on the Russian River, but the property itself doesn't have direct river access. There's no air conditioning -- the redwood canopy and the home's elevated design catch river breezes and keep the interior naturally cool, even on warm summer days. High-speed internet runs throughout the home. Dogs are welcome and must be leashed outdoors since the property isn't fenced. The surrounding roads are narrow and winding, typical of Russian River properties. Monte Rio observes quiet hours from 10 PM to 7 AM, and outdoor amplified sound isn't permitted. Minimum age to book is 21.

Home was beautiful. Had everything we needed. Very open space which I love. Each room had an amazing veiw of the trees that is my favorite. Wish 6 people max was possible. We enjoyed the area. Hope there is river access when we come back in the summer months.
Comfy beds, loft bedroom
Location away from Hwy. close to golf course
We saw otters every morning and in the evenings . To me I’ve seen them few times in different parts of the river but for some reason they love this part of the river especially Came up a couple feet away looked at me and had no fear at all amazing thing to see in person.
Very old inside, not updated, no access to water, bushes everywhere down to water. Very old bathrooms and bedrooms
The house itself is a bit dated but relatively clean. It's pretty well designed with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Garage is accessible and the driveway can really accommodate 2 extra cars. It is riverfront but the property around the house was let go. It's overgrown with weeds and there is no river access as the hill is steep and the stairs have been removed. There is also an option for a floating dock (the neighboring house has both stairs and the floating dock for the river access and swimming/boating) but the dock is also pulled and stored. The furniture, kitchen appliances and bathrooms are all in working order and functional with a full set of kitchenware. The deck on the 2nd floor has a beautiful setup for outdoor dining with a superb river view. Johnson's beach that guest book recommends is a ripoff but nearby Monte Rio public beach is free and it's very good - about 3 miles west. Overall we had a good time and I can recommend the place.
