Forestville is about 80 minutes from San Francisco via 101 and River Road — a mellow drive through vineyards and rolling hills. You'll find ample parking for up to 3 vehicles in the driveway. A car makes the Russian River Valley easy to explore, from redwood trails to riverside wineries. Cell service gets patchy in the redwoods, so downloading offline maps before you arrive is worth it.
The Russian River flows below your deck, though recent flooding means river access is now via ladder — best suited for agile guests. The home's 28-step entrance staircase leads to your second-story retreat among the redwoods. Your cabin stays naturally cool thanks to the shading redwood canopy and river breezes — most guests find the ceiling fans sufficient even on warm days. High-speed internet (40 Mbps) keeps you connected when needed. We've equipped the home with family essentials including a Pack 'n Play, high chair, and tub insert for the shower. The multi-tiered deck includes safety gates, making it secure for children while they play in the sandbox below. The private yard offers wonderful seclusion, though the mentioned river access has been affected by erosion. The primary renter must be 21 or older.

This home was a perfect short (2-day) stay for myself, husband, and two older teenagers. Host was very communicative with every bit of information we needed for a hassle-free stay. The place was immaculately clean! Very comfortable and welcoming. Very reasonable for the price! We would definitely recommend and stay here again if we are in the area.
As the house itself is great and in a great location, the Vacasa service was not so great. The room of the bunkbed had dirty sheets with what looked like lube stains and chewing gum on it. The gas grill outside was disgusting so we did not use it what we were really disappointed about. Also, they gave us the wrong hot tub code so we had to deal with finding phone reception (almost none out there) to call the customer service and waiting in line to finally get the correct code for the lock. Our request for a partial refund got denied without explanation. Very disappointing service.
Nothing. It’s literally illegal for them to be renting this place in this unsafe condition.
I’ll start with what I liked - it’s quiet, secluded, and the primary space is open (kitchen and living room). But unfortunately, an hour after arriving, we found 4 security cameras. 1st pointed at the front door (outside), 2nd pointed towards back door and area with outdoor seating (outside), and 3rd pointed towards grill and hot tub (outside), and the there is another camera facing the stairwell to front door. These cameras are hard to see/notice b/c they are black and are located under the eves which are dark in color. The listing does not disclose any type of surveillance/security camera usage nor is there a tenant handbook that discloses these devices which is s direct violation of vacasa and vrbo rules and regulations. We have taken pictures and have been in contact with vacasa (property management company) and filed a report with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Dept. There is no mention of this being stairs only access - roughly 18-20 stairs to access front door. Trying to drove off the property to access River Rd is extremely dangerous as one cannot see well to the left or right. Most of the adjacent properties have a mirror to allow drivers to see traffic easier. There are kids play-sets and random chairs scattered around the property. The fireplace did not work and I did not receive a call back from the management company that was supposedly on call. The remote for the fireplace was blinking but the fireplace would not ignite. There was another remote but for something (temp and fan control) but I have no idea what that was suppose to work because there was no handbook. The only handbook available was for emergency evacuation during a fire and the local on-call managers. The primary/master bedroom does not have heat. The oven is filthy and the shower needs to be re-caulked because there is mold. The only reason why we didn’t leave was because we had appts around the area and we could not find anywhere else to stay on short notice. Some of the aforementioned was shared with vacasa but we did not hear anything back except for - thanks for the pics, we will add it to our report. Would we recommend this to anyone - absolutely not.
We wanted to stay here because of the river and the hot tub. When we arrived on Friday evening, we needed to contact support in order to figure out how to unlock the hot tub. After 15 minutes with Vacasa support, we got the right code (the code provided is out of date)...only to discover the hot tub wasn't even hot. So we couldn't even use it that night. The entire family was in our swim suits and ready to enjoy it, so this was a huge disappointment. Then we tried to get to the river. In the property description under "Things to Know" it calls out "Due to recent flooding and erosion, river access is via a ladder and may not be suitable for all guests." We are a very adventurous family, so anything would have been enough: ladder, rope, whatever. But instead there was nothing but a 20 foot cliff. To not have anything whatsoever is just...disappointing. Overall, the house what cozy and comfortable, but simply didn't meet any of the basic expectations for why we booked it. With even just a tiny bit of effort, we would consider staying there again and probably enjoy it - but the theme of our stay there is once again simply disappointed.
Loved everything about this cabin.
