Overview

Your deck hangs among the treetops where redwood air and river mist blend into quiet mornings. This unique home offers complete privacy with two separate living spaces — perfect for couples traveling together. Just steps from Forestville River Access and a mile from Gary Farrell's hilltop tasting room. Wake to birdsong filtering through the forest canopy, then spend your days paddling the Russian River or sipping pinot at nearby wineries.

Soaring wood-beamed ceilings and walls of windows frame the forest in this Forestville retreat that feels like a sophisticated treehouse. A sage green exterior blends into the wooded hillside, while inside, modern-rustic warmth envelops you. A dramatic whitewashed brick fireplace with raised hearth anchors the space. Settle into the gray sofa or curl up in a teal velvet wingback as vaulted pine-beam ceilings soar overhead. The open kitchen features light wood cabinets, dark speckled granite, and a gas range with curved hood — an L-shaped layout flowing to the dining area for easy entertaining. OUTDOOR LIVING Multiple deck areas immerse you in the forest. The upper deck features wood railings and French doors leading inside. Sip morning coffee to birdsong or enjoy evening wine as the forest settles into dusk. SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS The main bedroom offers a queen bed with pale green bedding, plus a unique loft accessed by ladder. A separate studio on the lower level — accessible only from outside — provides its own queen bed and full bathroom, ideal for a second couple. A queen sofa bed in the living room rounds out the options. Total capacity: 4 guests. PROPERTY AMENITIES -- Full kitchen with gas range -- Whitewashed brick fireplace -- Two full bathrooms -- Smart TV for streaming -- High-speed internet (may be spotty in this rural setting) -- Heating throughout -- Parking for 2 vehicles -- Two-level layout with private studio

Curl up under vaulted, beamed ceilings by the whitewashed brick fireplace, then step out to one of multiple deck spaces that open onto the surrounding forest. The whole home is yours, with a balcony off the main level and a unique built-in bedroom upstairs. Punch in the keypad code at the door; two off-street parking spots wait (the driveway is very steep).

Your forest hideaway sits in a wonderfully secluded spot on the north side of the Russian River, where Forestville's wine country meets its river recreation roots. Walk just 0.3 miles to Forestville River Access for morning bird watching or afternoon swims. Wine lovers will appreciate being 1.2 miles from Gary Farrell Vineyards & Winery's stunning hilltop tasting room, or 1.3 miles from Moshin Vineyards. Porter Creek Vineyards (1.6 miles) pours exceptional pinot in an intimate setting. For provisions, Sam's Market is just 0.4 miles away, while the beloved Speer's Market and Deli is 2 miles. Dine at the legendary Russian River Pub (1.4 miles) or grab authentic tacos at El Rey Market & Taqueria (2.9 miles). Summer visitors can paddle with Burke's Canoe Trips launching right from Forestville, while Steelhead Beach Regional Park (1.3 miles) offers year-round river access with swimming holes and picnic areas.

Forestville is about 80 minutes from San Francisco via 101 and River Road — a mellow drive through vineyards and rolling hills. You'll have two off-street parking spaces (note the steep driveway typical of hillside properties). A car makes the Russian River Valley easy to explore, from redwood trails to riverside wineries. Cell service gets patchy in the redwoods, so downloading offline maps before you arrive is worth it.

The home stays naturally cool thanks to the shaded forest setting and cross-ventilation through multiple windows — you'll find the tree cover keeps temperatures comfortable even on warm days. Internet is provided but can be spotty given this beautiful rural location, perfect for disconnecting from city life. The unique layout with the separate studio accessed from outside works wonderfully for two couples or those who appreciate privacy. The steep driveway is typical of hillside properties here — take it slow and you'll be fine. No washer/dryer on-site, though Forestville has laundry facilities if needed for longer stays. This is a peaceful neighborhood where quiet hours (10 PM - 8 AM) help preserve the tranquil forest atmosphere. The primary renter must be 21 or older.

I don’t usually write reviews. My general opinion is that most of the time people are just trying to do their best, and that our social media fueled impersonalized world makes people feel that they can troll and criticize unnecessarily and without consequence. For me, I only take to writing when it comes to the margins. That 5% where the experience is exceptional or particularly terrible. This unfortunately is the story of the latter. This is my first time using VRBO, but I have a long history of using AirBnb. Dozens of stays later, I’ve never written something negative, for all its faults the platform usually connects the consumer to an actual human usually eager to make the experience a pleasant one. Enter this house, a completely soulless expanse, decorated in tasteless ikea, where clearly no human has lived except for the weary weekend traveler. But I digress, as this is not a review about style. Vacasa, the large corporation that apparently runs or owns this home, was too cheap to provide internet, their marginal effort was a decade old hotspot that didn’t work. As a result I sent a simple inquiry asking if the lack of internet could be fixed. We came here for a staycation to work and relax so this was important. The response was impressively swift, after barely 30 seconds I was told “we will contact our local team and get back to you”. Then. Silence. After 5 such inquiries, and almost verbatim responses, I realized I was probably talking to an AI chatbot. Doing some research I found a local contact, who when texted, surprise! had not been even contacted by the large corporate chatbot. Yet, even the newly discovered human didn’t offer to help. They just blamed a system error that led to them not being notified. Maybe, he was just another AI chatbot? Please don’t stay at this house. Please don’t give your money to this soulless corporation. Stay anywhere but here.

The house itself was nice and nestled in the forest which was good but we had a very bad experience with wifi. My kids missed their online math classes because there wasn't any connectivity. I had to call customer support multiple times. Finally when customer support came to the location it took them 2 hours to figure out that there was no actual modem and router in the home. The wifi was through a portable hotspot device which was out of charge and the charger was nowhere to be found. Also the second bedroom and bathroom are not connected to the main house and have a completely separate entrance. While this was mentioned in the listing, it felt a little hidden and was easy to miss. We were inconvenienced because of this as we are a family with relatively young kids. The toaster in the kitchen was not working

The house was well stocked and as described on the website. However the house was wasn’t as clean as you’d expect when paying a cleaning fee. There were dead bugs in the window screens & spider webs throughout the home & bathtub We weren’t able to use the showers or drink water from the taps due to the water smelling foul. Obviously missing a major feature such as water put a damper on the stay.

Great stay. Clean. Bed and pillows were comfy. Plenty of parking. Felt like staying in a tree house. Lots of really lovely wineries nearby. Toddler enjoyed playing on the deck and finding sticks in the yard. We definitely plan to stay here again.
