I am writing to formally express my disappointment with the condition of the property and the significant discrepancies between how the property was advertised and what we experienced upon arrival. Unfortunately, this has been one of the most disappointing vacation rental experiences we have had. The property was advertised as being clean and vacation-ready, but the house was filthy. We found dirty contact lenses, dog bones, and various other items scattered on the floors and sofa. There was also hair on the downstairs bathroom toilet. In addition, we found clothing, including a sports bra, in one of the drawers. Finding someone else’s personal belongings throughout the property was completely unacceptable and made us uncomfortable. The property was also advertised as having a fully stocked kitchen. However, we could not locate a spatula, serving spoons, salt and pepper, and several other basic kitchen items. This made it difficult to prepare even a simple breakfast and required us to purchase items that should have already been provided. The temperature and air-conditioning situation has also been unacceptable. The central air in the main bedroom does not work properly, and the temperature inside the house reached 80 degrees even though it was not 100 degrees outside. This is not an acceptable condition for a vacation rental, particularly when guests are paying to stay in a property that is represented as comfortable and fully functional. Additionally, the presence of pets should have been clearly disclosed in the listing. Had we known that the owner had pets in the property, we would not have rented it. Instead, we arrived to find evidence of pets throughout the home, which was particularly concerning given the cleanliness issues. We have also had to purchase Febreze and a candle simply to make the property tolerable, in addition to the other items we have had to purchase because the kitchen was not properly stocked. These are expenses we should not have incurred during a vacation stay. Overall, the property was not as advertised, and the condition of the home has significantly impacted our stay. We chose this property based on the representations made in the listing and expected a clean, comfortable, properly maintained, and fully equipped vacation rental. Unfortunately, that is not warranted given the numerous issues we have encountered.
