We loved the access to the quiet beach.
We’ve stayed at Sea Colony multiple times and the resort itself is great with lots of amenities and private beach access plus several pools and is very convenient to everything in town. However, while our previous condos were all in great shape, this one needed some serious TLC to the bathrooms. Furniture also wasn’t as comfortable as in previous visits; it just felt more industrial than beachy.
Pros: - Great location, although you cannot see the beach from the unit you are about 90 seconds walk away from it. - Floorplan is good, especially like having a dedicated 1/2 bath off the main bedroom - The Sea Colony bubble is a good place to be, with access to a bunch of additional amenities as part of your stay - Very close (0.5 miles) to downtown Bethany Beach area as well as lots of dining and touristy options - Unit includes a number of board games and other entertainment options (more on that in a moment) - In unit laundry is great and worked well - Parking is easy and close to the unit, particularly the stairs up - WiFi signal and speed were both excellent Cons: - The entertainment mentioned above includes a Nintendo Wii, which is pretty great if you have kiddos with you. Unfortunately, it is broken/not able to read discs so that ended up being very disappointing for them! - The dishwasher was not working upon our arrival. I was able to troubleshoot the issue as broken glass stuck in the drain from a prior tenant and upon removing all of the glass and power cycling the dishwasher, it worked again but I would have expected this to be caught/fixed prior to our check-in. - The pull out sleeper sofa is not very comfortable (typical). It is also showing its age quite a bit as the mechanical componants are a bit sketchy. The frame is bent just enough that getting it out of the couch required two people - one to pull as normal and another to push one side from the bottom so it cleared the sofa. Putting it back in required basically the same effort in reverse. - The outlets are all well past needing to be replaced, such that anything you plug in is just barely plugged in and will fall out at the slightest provocation. Some of the outlets are so worn that anything plugged in simply fell out from its own weight. - All of this combines to an experience that was overall pleasant and that worked well for our family, but left an overall impressing of aging and a need for some TLC on the part of the owners. Nothing was BAD persay, and overall I would probably stay here again if the price was right, but I will certainly be looking at other options within the Sea Colony bubble next time.
The unit was recently renovated and in great condition. It overlooks a courtyard patio and is very peaceful. Walking distance to several popular restaurants.
Sea Colony is amazing for families. Unit was clean and comfortable.
We loved our time here. The proximity to the beach, the pool, the staff at both aforementioned were wonderful. The unit we stayed in was wonderful.
