In addition to skiing, many of the local trails allow snowshoeing and fat-tire biking as well.

Wild Rice Lake is a 384 acre lake located in Vilas County. It has a maximum depth of 26 feet. Visitors have access to the lake from a public boat landing. Fish include Musky, Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike and Walleye.

Beautiful spot on a small lake. Great views of the snowy landscape. Convenient location for nearby x-country ski and snowshoe trails. The home seemed well insulated. Stayed warm and was not drafty.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Artist's Cove. Beautiful view of the lake in a tranquil environment. Used the kayaks and ate breakfast on the deck. The cottage was well appointed with comfortable furniture and—true to its name—abundant aesthetically pleasing artwork. Bathrooms were fine and the bed was so comfortable that we slept in every morning! The kitchen is fully functional and has everything needed for a pleasant stay. Plenty of restaurants, grocery and things to do within a 5-20 minute drive. Especially recommend Dixie’s Coffee, Little Bohemia and the Guide’s Inn.

The kayaks and row boat was a plus. It allowed us to get out on the lake. You could fish right off the dock. The fire pit was nice to use in the late afternoon.
