The house was very near the beach! Just a 5 minute walk. You can see the beach and hear the waves from the 2nd story deck. Although we had read about them in other reviews, we learned first hand about midge flies(they look like mosquitoes but don’t bite). Once we realized that you have to keep the doors closed at all times, the midge flies weren’t that bad yet still got into the house. And even as realized that this is an island location and there might be bugs and spiders, there were indeed a number of cobwebs on the window and doors. Some of the bushes and creeping vines were growing up through the front stairs. So, you really had to watch your step (which may have been a built in safety check for our trip) . The appliances worked well with the exception of the fridge door. After a couple of days, we realize if you close it a certain way, then it would completely close without a crack in the seam. Hot water was plentiful. Water pressure was hit or miss depending on the number of people taking showers. There a shrubs that were 20 feet or more high in front of the house, which gave it a neat kind of secluded feel. Having said that, you can’t see the property or the house numbers from the road until you get past it. Took us a couple of days to get used to that. The sliding glass door in the back yard does not lock. You have to put a long piece of wood (provided) in the sliding mechanism at night to Make sure it is secure. The back yard had a putting green which was nice and a pool. Sadly we missed the end of pool season by a couple of weeks, so it was covered and could not be used. The bedrooms were nice and the bathrooms were clean and spacious. The kitchen area was clean and spacious with seating at two tables for as many as 10. Just all in all seemed a little pricey for what seemed to be a dated beach house, especially as we were apparently in the off season and had no access to the pool.
Loved the spacious rooms, comfortable furnishings and amenities. Short walk to the beach was appreciated. And the pool was very nice. Made use of the volleyball court, putting green and pool. Coffee on the deck in the morning and chilling to the sunset over the sound in the evening on the front porch. Overall a great trip with the family despite less than perfect weather.
House was perfect size for our families. Kitchen nice size with big table. Laundry room nice with pantry storage. Bedrooms were all nice size with usable furniture. The master bedroom, closet and bathroom are huge!!
Came for a family vacation from New York. Process was super easy checking in, location is right around the corner from the beach, easy access. Outdoor pool was amazing. Lots of cobwebs outside on deck and stairs, and the grill on the upper deck was filthy also covered in cobwebs. Exterior of the house was covered in spiders, cobwebs. Inside the house was very clean. The Only problem inside the house I found was the stove top only had two burners that properly worked. A little frustrating seeing as the grill couldn’t be used, but we made do with what we had. All in all very easy things to fix and we had a great time.
The house is awesome. It’s so close to the beach and the pool is incredible. The only problem was the outside maintenance. There were big spiders and cobwebs everywhere. Weeds growing through the front steps. With proper cleaning I’d give it a 5 star review but we really wouldn’t sit outside because of the outside cleanliness. The inside was spotless. We called and asked someone to come spray and they did
Nice outside pool area, closeness to beach, large master bedroom/ closet, bathroom.
