The Groggy Anchor

If you’re lucky enough to stay at Groggy Anchor, you’re lucky enough. I’ve waited to write this review because I left my visit, quite literally stunned by the mix of comfort and exquisitely tailored elegance of this historic home at a place on the globe that’s hard to convey how perfectly perfect it is; literally, stunning. A view of the ocean from the dining room table, public access beach is straight ahead, you’re on vibrant Commercial Street but around the bend a little away from the rush and more accessible to Pilgrim’s First Landing park, a great way to enjoy the sunset. The experience of staying in this warm treasure box of a home is as fine and exclusive as any luxury stay anywhere. We were there on Valentine’s Day weekend so lucky to spend extra time inside just enjoying the gift of the experience. Colin and Steve were gracious, delightful, beyond attentive. When I left my iPad there, it was beautifully packaged and priority mailed to me promptly without question of expense first. First rate all the way around. If I could them 6 stars I would.

This cottage truly was as if from a fairytale. It maintained the quaintness and historical character of the house while offering modern conveniences and appliances to make for a beautiful blend of old world charm with new features. The interior decor is so thoughtful and gorgeous. The landscaping and location are also adorable. Loved everything about the stay!

It feels like walking into a museum! There is so much original art, beautifully curated antiques, and every attention to detail and comfort. I was there, as a mom, with my son who just came out to me as a transgender woman. We needed space to get to know each other, spend time walking on the beaches, and relax. We would NoT have stayed there had it not been dog friendly. Thank you for allowing dogs. It was perfect for us to have quiet, relaxing time together, to talk and find a new way and a new relationship. You may not realize it, but you helped us a lot.

The Groggy Anchor is truly one of a kind. Every detail reflects its historic past and deep connection to Provincetown’s rich history. While the home itself—along with its impressive antique and art collection—exudes old-world charm, the modern amenities rival those of a five-star hotel. The thoughtful touches made our stay exceptional: dimmable lighting throughout (thank you!), customizable climate control with mini-splits and a central furnace, stunning showers with excellent water pressure, and luxurious king beds that gave us the best sleep all week. The fully stocked kitchen was a dream, and the garden was simply enchanting—we can’t wait to return in the summer to enjoy it even more! Beyond the comfort, the antiques and artwork alone made this stay unforgettable, inspiring us daily. It truly feels like stepping into the Cape Cod equivalent of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. We can’t recommend it enough!

We loved everything about this quaint and comfortable home! The location can’t be beat, the grounds are nicely maintained and the whole house was very clean and cozy. We are looking forward to coming back to stay soon!
