What's nearby:
Of course, the Cape has some of the best beaches in the world, one of which, Glendon Road Beach, is only 1/3 of a mile away and an easy walk. A local favorite is Coast Guard Beach sitting 20 miles from home base. Passing through cranberry bogs, salt marshes, beaches, a state park, forests, and more, the Cape Cod Rail Trail is sublime; there is an entrance with a parking lot a couple of miles away from the cottage. Provincetown is loaded with funky charm and if you are feeling nostalgic, visit one of the few remaining drive-ins in Wellfleet (28 miles). Check out the national acts that visit the Cape Cod Melody Tent. If you are feeling adventurous, go whale watching out of Provincetown or take the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket. For dining, consider the fried clams and clam cakes at Captain Frosty’s in Dennis. Thuan Loi in S. Yarmouth has some of the best Vietnamese food anywhere. For ice cream, you can’t go wrong with Cape Cod Creamery in S. Yarmouth or Schoolhouse in Harwichport.
