Overview
Nestled between the vibrant resort towns of Saint Joseph and South Haven, Michigan, this stunning three-story home features a modern lower-level walk-out unit with a full bath, two bedrooms, and an open kitchen seamlessly connected to the living room. Perched on a bluff overlooking the shores of Lake Michigan, this property boasts both historical charm and breathtaking views.
Built during the Roaring Twenties, the home carries a fascinating connection to the infamous Al Capone. Its elaborate woodwork, sourced from two mansions in Chicago's Gold Coast, was meticulously retrofitted to enhance the home’s unique character. Two fireplaces further elevate the home’s historical appeal.
Upon entering the upper-level unit, you'll be greeted by a spacious main floor featuring a kitchen, dining room, living room, full bath, and a hallway leading to the second floor. Upstairs, you’ll find four bedrooms (one with a large private balcony) and a full bath, all showcasing the same exquisite historical woodwork.
But there’s more—take the spiral staircase to the newly remodeled third-floor suite. This 5th bedroom includes its own bathroom, sitting area, and a private balcony, offering stunning views of the expansive 2.5-acre property and over 500 feet of private Lake Michigan beach. Newly constructed stairs (completed in August 2024) lead directly to the pristine private beach, making this property an extraordinary lakeside property

Stunning 1920 architecture. Woodwork and furnishings were wonderful. Very well equipped kitchen. Some of the available beds were in a second, lower unit. The house sits on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. Many steps down to the water.
Location and view are nice . There were issues during our stay which prompted us to contact Vacasa several times.
This house is gorgeous. Some of the best stargazing we have had in years. We also had a bald eagle rest in a tree just south of the property. You rent this property for the views. With that said it had its issues. The WiFi, the leaking air conditioner and the bed frame breaking in the wee hours of the night. I wish it was as perfect as the view. Would we rest this house again? I think we would.
We absolutely loved the place. The backyard was beautiful, the views were beautiful and the house was beautiful. There was a private beach, which was nice to have. The host was also very responsive. It was exactly what we were looking for and we would stay again.
We absolutely loved the old woodwork and beautiful bedrooms, staircases, and most of all the view. It was the perfect spot for our family weekend getaway.
What a great home. So many beautiful places to be able to sit and look at the lake (and bald eagles), both inside and out. Just be aware there are a lot of stairs in and around the house (and to get to the beach). There are two units so you have to go outside to get to the other space but you get to enjoy the view and we had good weather so it didn’t matter. Beds were very comfortable and there are plenty of spaces to hang out. The wood work is beautiful and the kitchens had the pots and pans we needed to cook our dinner. Check-in details were confusing because it didn’t say to use the lockboxes and codes for the keys, plus we were only sent one code and there should be two. I hope they get that cleared up but aside from that little hiccup, I highly recommend!
