The furniture and bedding were all comfy. A perfect place for a smaller group. We enjoyed our stay there.
Unit is dated but has all amenities needed for a brief stay. Several issues were resolved with maintenance team in a timely manner. We would rent again as area is wonderful.
I pretty much agree with Lynn M who posted about her stay a week or so before my stay. My family has been vacationing every summer at the Homestead for 20 years. We've stayed all over the resort and this is definitely the worst unit we've encountered. Here's why: The linoleum floors were absolutely filthy, hadn't been mopped in ages. The furniture was old, worn and dirty. Only one celling fan in the unit. We ended up going to the local hardware store and bought two fans. Mouse droppings everywhere. My daughter actually saw a mouse in her room one night. The power went out in the entire Homestead resort for about 90 minutes around 8:00 PM the first night we were there. I got a text from Vacasa at 10:00 AM the next morning that there was a boil water advisory for the complex. A little late as we had been up, drank water, brushed teeth, showered, etc. by the point in time. Then we never heard from them again as to when the advisory had been lifted. As was pointed out by Lynn M., it was a "family friendly" budget rental but that doesn't excuse the condition. We stayed four days and the per night average price was $420 (a $500 "fee" from Vacasa on a four night stay made it far less "family friendly"). For that amount of money the place should at least be free of mouse droppings. I've never felt the need to write a review for one of our stays at the Homestead but I think people should know that if you choose to go, do not stay in this unit, it's not representative of the resort as a whole.
We had a lovely stay. Very clean and peaceful.
SO disappointed with this unit and Vacasa’s failure to respond to our concerns during our stay. We’ve been vacationing in Glen Arbor & at The Homestead for 30+ years. This unit was the filthiest and least-suitable for a family vacation of any we’ve ever stayed. We booked late and had low expectations and knew this was ‘budget friendly’. Budget-friendly doesn’t mean disrepair and filthy. Highlights: Super dirty - especially the linoleum on the first floor (kitchen/dining/half bath) - looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years and we wore sandals on it. See photo of the one ‘tile’ and grout I started to clean. Mouse droppings and dirty throughout. Carpet having two strips of ‘bubbling’ in it making a tripping hazard. Paneling in dining area buckling. Refrigerator main compartment didn’t work - took two days to cool down and even then wasn’t very cold. Rusted out hinges, metal blinds, shower curtain hooks (and salt and pepper!?) due to how damp all three levels of the unit constantly were One barely functioning tv (the other had a cord missing and wouldn’t work. ONE ceiling fan on upper level (not ceiling fan(S). Gross and dirty furniture - what little they had. Broken kitchen table. Light switches and outlets that didn’t work Poorly appointed kitchen where what little they had was very old, dirty, broken and cheap. Goodwill wouldn’t take most of what was in this place. It’s sad because with a minimal investment ($500-$1k) and a deep clean, 90% of what were issues for us - would have been fine. We’ve also stayed with Vacasa many times and have never had this bad of an experience with them.
Great location! In Arbor Glen, next to the sand dunes.
