Our family had a wonderful long weekend at Poppy's Playhouse. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of dishes, cookware, and all the accessories. We had everything needed to cook all meals at the house. The outdoor solo stove made for a great place to relax and make s'mores. There was plenty of patio furniture for the whole family to hang out. The basement was a great place for the kids to play ping pong, mini basketball, etc. a great big space. Lake Anna State Park was a quick 10 minute drive away with great hiking trails along the lake. Autumn is a beautiful time to visit.
All I can say is my family love this home. This is our second time staying here and we will be back soon.
The house was beautiful, very large playroom area, location an amenities are great - Our family enjoyed it a lot! Can’t wait to go back
Very comfortable. Lots of places to lounge inside and outside. Very spacious main floor master suite. Lots of TVs which made watching our streaming services easy. Great location in terms of groceries, restaurants, state park, etc. State park pass was awesome bonus. Awesome community beach area, as part of HOA, for small kids. Great kids space in the basement. Seating and furniture on stamped concrete patio under deck was very comfortable. Wifi at boathouse was a nice bonus given lack of cell service. Things to improve: - 2 toilets on the main floor felt very close to the ground, seemed a better fit for my toddler than for me (6'1"). Upstairs toilet was fine and the main floor ones should be updated to match a more normal height. - Outdoor dining chairs on deck could use a refresh. - The house is advertised as sleeping 10 and allowing 10 cars to park but only came with a single key, despite having a keypad lock! Seems like a missed opportunity not to give a keycode lock. - There was an embarrassment of riches with a Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and Playstation. That said, my wife and I are being very and extremely tech savvy and we only went 2 for 3 in getting the systems connected. Our older kids were annoyed, but they still had plenty of video game access. - As another reviewer mentioned, there are a handful of invasive trees of heaven. Those should be cut rather than allowed to grow up to the 2nd story (and beyond).
Great space to spread out
While inside of the house was nice, the outside was severely neglected. The deck, the patio below, the shower and all the furniture are covered with disgusting green mold, mildew, and algae. The chairs by the fire pit were so bad we could not use them and what a disappointment since we brought no lawn chairs as these were offered. We came to enjoy the lake and the outdoors and couldn’t even sit on the outdoor chairs without thoroughly cleaning them. One party could not be outside due to mold issues beciase of this abnormal condition due to neglect. We were unable to hang wet beach towels over the banister due to filth. The string of lights didn’t work and one pizza oven is unusable because its door is missing. One of the lower grills had something growing in it that prevented use of it. The boat dock was also covered with brown and green grime and silt. The pictures in Vacasa’s advertisement are several years old- they show a pristine property and no trees in the front; however, there is a junk tree growing up against the 2nd story window. Additionally, the microwave didn’t work the first half of the week and the dryer didn’t work the second half. We notified Vacasa of our experience with pictures and they offered to refund 7% of what we paid.
