PRO’s: 1) Location on Duck Key was great. Easy access (south) to Marathon or (north) to Islamorada. 2) Ceiling fans on downstairs deck & living space were super for additional air flow. CON’s: 1) Property needs a thorough cleaning. For example, if you walked around, then soles of your feet were BLACK from dirt. We ended up having to wear our shoes 100% of the time to avoid this. 2) Sliding door in master bedroom was off-track. A text call to maintenance # said that it would be fixed. Part of the door was fixed the other side not so much. 3) Entertainment cabinet handle was … missing?? A text call and photo to maintenance said it would be fixed. It wasn’t (before we left anyway). 4) Mattress in the master bedroom VERY SOFT - to the point that when you laid down on your back, then your feet ended up rising above your body. A bit unnerving. 5) No hand soap?????? We went into Marathon and bought some and left for the next occupant. Not sure if that will stay after the cleaning crew gets to the property though … we tried! 6) Cabinet door above kitchen sink didn’t close. You had to be careful leaning forward in kitchen to not hit your head on edge of cabinet (yeah - THAT’S a safety issue for sure!). 7) Beds in 2nd bedroom are squeaky when you move around. The point of the review is that it was NOT A GOOD VALUE FOR THE $$ PAID. Wouldn’t stay there again.
Beautiful resort
The location, the terraces, the charm, the views. It felt like home. Can't wait to return.
The bed in the master was too soft. My wife and I had to sleep in separate rooms. When lying in the bed your feet are actually higher than your head. In the 2nd room the bed by the outside door (east) was making so much creaking sounds it was not usable. Kitchen was great with good pans, pots, knives everything. Large stain on the front of the couch which you see right away when entering the unit. The master closet door is missing a wheel on the top so it did not open and close correctly. We were not able to use the first floor at the floor was freezing most days. We realize weather was a factor but thought we should mention that there must be zero insulation under the house. Generally we found the unit heavily used. The front door does not have a latch - So the only way to keep it closed was to use the deadbolt. Unit is very quiet as there was a family next-door and we heard nothing. Unit was clean although in downstairs bath room there was evidence of water or possible moisture running down the walls. Bathtub upstairs was draining slow so by the time you finished a shower water was to your ankles (very bad). We would love to rent unit again but truly we feel that the value was not there. We do feel that a discount for these issues and the fact we are sharing with you 'all so that they can be repaired as to be more pleasurable to the next rented. The kitchen and location as well as the patio spaces.
