Overview
Welcome to Julia Whitehead Guest Suites! Built in the 1890s on the site of what had been a small provisions and butcher shop, this charming building has a rich and captivating history. In the 1930s, while Hemingway was living a few houses down, it was home to a popular Cuban bodega. From the 1980s through the turn of this century, potter Charles Pearson created ceramic masterpieces which are still collected today. If you keep a watchful eye, you will find some of his ceramic fish adorning buildings and homes in the neighborhood still.
Its current guardians have spent nearly a decade painstakingly bringing the building back to life, with three one-bedroom apartments, and hosting Dog Tired Studio gallery up front as the proud face of the building. Julia Whitehead, the patron mermaid of the building, has been keeping an eye over this landmark since she first surfaced here in the 1800s, and she invites you to come and live like a local, just steps from Duval, in the shadow of the lighthouse.
Here, in the upstairs Seagrass Suite, enjoy peaceful mornings with coffee on your private balcony, with a view of the Key West Lighthouse. Interior space combines modern updates with antique accent pieces, eclectic art, and cheerful pops of color. The modern, sleek kitchen makes meal prep a breeze and a cozy living room is designed for relaxing at the end of the day. Free WiFi and cable will keep you entertained, or unplug entirely with an evening back out on the balcony, enjoying the stars and the lights of Old Town before bed - another idyllic day in Key West awaits tomorrow.
All three apartments in the building may be rented as Julia Whitehead Guest Suites to accommodate up to six guests.

5th year coming to key west and this unit did not disappoint! Plenty of towels and bed was comfy. We really enjoyed having coffee on the patio and adult drinks in the evening.
Great place all around! Will definitely come back.
A cozy apartment that was very clean, and close to Duvall Street and all the attractions! Perfect spot for a couple on a romantic getaway!
perfect location
This unit is great for a couple exploring Key West! It was VERY clean, had all the basics in the kitchen, good bath towels, private deck, felt secure, and is in a good location. So close to Duval, but just far enough to buffer the noise. We walked everywhere! Also loved being able to store our luggage before checking in. The Vacasa team was very quick to respond to any questions with a simple text. We would definitely stay again!
Very clean decor was fun and colorful Bedroom was a 2nd floor large and comfortable bed. Highly recommend
