Musty smell upon entering the house. One shower is available and it only produces a trickle of water. Numerous windows in the house do not open, which can cause poor ventilation leading to stagnant air and trapping indoor pollutants Nearly every square inch of floor space is covered by southwestern style rugs of various lengths and widths that help cover a network of electrical extension cords, (no fire hazard here, eh?). Exposed logs supporting the ceiling and roof appear discolored and contain dark splotches. Such discoloration and splotches suggest the logs were never treated (sealed) or the sealant has failed - either of which can lead to mold and rot. Further, the interior has a lot of southwestern home decor and old books - a whole lot. Some people may refer to the decor as tchotchkes, knick-knacks, or just plain clutter. Regardless, the sheer amount of decor, especially when combined with an excessive number of rugs and old books, can make it difficult to keep things allergen and dust free. Due to experiencing respiratory issues while in the house, we vacated the property with 11 nights remaining on the reservation we paid for a month or so before arriving on-site. We notified Marriott Homes and Villas/Vacasa we needed to vacate the property due to respiratory issues the same day we left. In lieu of refunding our money for the remaining 11 nights, we received an apology and some Marriott loyalty points with a value we estimate to be equal to the cost of two happy meals at a local fast food chain.
We loved the space, both indoor and out! The art made for some unexpected homey touches, and the large windows made you feel closer to nature. We loved that there was an air conditioning unit in the master bedroom, and yet, did not feel uncomfortable in the other living spaces even though there was no central air. We had the pleasure of witnessing a couple of bucks who were grazing on the sage outside, along with numerous hummingbirds and other birds. It was great to be able to bring our dogs along on this trip, the space around the home does have a large number of cacti, but we found some great local hikes for our morning and evening walks! Highly recommend this property, we hope to visit again in the future.

The house and its surroundings were as much fun to explore as anything else on our trip. Truly inspirational.
