You can easily pick up groceries at Surf Market or head south on the highway for eight miles to reach the Sea Ranch Lodge and its restaurant, small gift shop, and stunning bluff-top location. Between the coastal trails, tidepools, heated pools, and The Sea Ranch Lodge's restaurant, you could fill a week without leaving the community. Gualala is a quick 10-minute drive south for groceries, dining, and fuel. For a scenic outing, Jenner and Bodega Bay are further down Highway 1.

On days you don't comb the beach, soak in the private hot tub, or wander the bluff trail, a day trip to Mendocino is about 52 miles north along the coast. Charles M.
