For provisions, Gualala (10 minutes south) has grocery stores, restaurants, and a gas station. Jenner and Bodega Bay are scenic drives south.

Sea Ranch is about 2.5 hours north of San Francisco -- take Highway 101 to Highway 1 for one of California's most scenic coastal drives. The nearest airport is Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) in Santa Rosa, roughly 90 minutes east. A car is the way to go for exploring the area.

Access passes are provided with your stay -- check availability upon arrival as these shared amenities can be popular during peak times. Exterior lighting is minimal by design to preserve the stunning dark sky -- bring a flashlight for evening walks and enjoy some of the best stargazing on the California coast. December through April is whale season. You may spot gray whales breaching right from the bluff trail nearby. Wildflower season (April-June) transforms the coastal bluffs into a tapestry of color -- worth an extra walk on the trails. Summer offers long days and warm afternoons, though the iconic Sonoma Coast fog often rolls in at sunrise and clears by noon. Cell service can be spotty along the coast.
