We enjoyed our stay at Lakeland Village. Alpine Haven was like a home away from home. Our condo had all the amenities we needed. It was well stocked and very clean. Lakeland is centrally located within South Lake Tahoe. Very close to the casinos and ski locations if that is your thing. We will definitely chose Alpine Haven again when we visit South Lake Tahoe again.
Been coming to this location for over 20 years. Great place for families. Pool. Beach. Close to the Casinos.
We enjoyed the beach front location with the swimming pool, hottub, grills and fire pits. The pier was a great spot to catch the sunsets. We stayed in unit 434, which was a 2 bedroom with 2 additional beds in the loft area. We had 2 full bathrooms, one that looked to be recently updated. We also had a washer and dryer in the unit that came in handy for washing towels. They supplied plenty of beach towels, and when we needed more detergent the front desk was happy to replenish us. The only downside I saw in the rentals were the lack of natural light in the living room. There were sliding glass doors to the balcony but it did not allow a lot of light in, and there is a small window near the fireplace, but it also restricted light to come in. These units do not come with a/c but we never noticed. We were gone all dayand it did get chilly at night. We were in close proximity to the pool area that lead to the beach, and parking was easy. I noticed the tennis courts did not have nets, and I was told they would not be going up. The property is close to a Walgreens or CVS, I can’t remember which one, a liquor store and a grocery store is within 5 minutes. We were able to walk to a few shops close by, and Heavenly is just about a mile down to road for shopping and restaurants. This was a family vacation so it was nice being close to all of the touristy stuff, and having the amenities on the property.
Loved the location and the area was great. Quiet and clean grounds
The pine cones falling on the roof. The appliances, the bedding , the counter space, the beds and pillows. The upstairs bathroom. All first class.
The condo itself was immaculate & very well stocked. Plenty of extra towels, loved the hand soaps at every sink, washing machine detergent was a nice bonus, & kitchen very well stocked. Nice having fans to help circulate air. Very comfortable unit. The only negative that I found about this unit was that they do not offer early check-in. We arrived early morning because it was a holiday & we wanted to beat traffic. We actually saw the housekeepers leaving our unit at 1 o’clock and they said it was ready. We had mentioned something about an “inspection” and they had no idea, so it sounds like that is just something Vacasa says to deter early check-ins. This unit does not offer early check-in and that may be one reason why we don’t stay in it specifically again because it really is nice to have that option, if available. And since our unit was ready at 1 o’clock, it would’ve been nice. But we managed on the beach. We’ve been coming to Lakeland for over 30 years and not sure why Vail is no longer managing, so their are a few disappointing things about Lakeland since Vacasa took over. It is very sad that the HOA got rid of the shuttle and the tennis courts. The kids club was lost long ago and that was also a disappointment, but not as much as the shuttle and the tennis courts. The shuttle was one of the main reasons we have continued to stay at Lakeland, so hoping that at some point that gets reconsidered (at least for the summer and winter months). It really is a huge draw to the property. It seems like with every new property manager, the amenities that Lakeland provides get less and less. I get that it’s voted on by the HOA so it is kind of disappointing because I’m sure many of them don’t even use their unit and probably haven’t been there in many years so they don’t know what the renters like. Also the requirement of wristbands is ridiculous. I think that is a degrading requirement and if you’re going to require something like that, make it at least the rubber wristbands that can be taken on and off. I’m not going to wear some paper wristband that looks like I’ve been clubbing. Plus it seems demeaning to those who are renting from there. I get the idea behind it but it really is not necessary. Vacasa online staff is clueless since this is one of their many locations. I had to help some of them do their job when it came to some of the things required as they had no idea. For them it seems like it is just about money, not service. And the texts! A little overboard - multiple texts and emails a day. It seems nagging rather than helpful. The Vacasa checkout is also 10 AM and check-in is 4 PM. Most places seem to be an 11 AM check out if a 4 PM check in. So the 10 AM check out seems a bit early and again more about money than considering your guests experience. All onsite Lakeland staff was amazing. We do love Lakeland Village overall, but if the complex amenities keep dwindling and costs keep rising, it may not be our 1st choice.
