I booked this property through vrbo.com, but host never responded and the number associated to property was not working, you have to go through Vacasa agent. The property was ready but they will not let you check in early even for only 1 hour. The host is not flexible. The fireplace and hot tub was not working, and place is dated.
Good location. Hot tub broken. Fixtures very old. Fireplace wouldn’t work and the Vacasa help team never responded.
We stayed for one week, starting on Christmas. This is premium time to be so close to Northstar, so a premium price is expected. However, the owner really needs to invest in deep cleaning and basic maintenance to make a stay here feel like it is worth the high price. The lower floor shower is a particular problem. It is absolutely overrun with mold, all along the edges of the enclosure, the grout, and in the drywall above the enclosure. It is also a code-minimum 30" square, meaning that mold is right up in your face as you shower. The showerhead is low, under eye level for me at 6'2". Given the level of mold, the whole enclosure probably needs to be ripped out and replaced. Other maintenance issues abound: The house was missing a snow shovel when we arrived, making our stated obligation to clear the berm of plowed snow impossible. (The team did send one to us, but this seems pretty basic for a snowy area.) A floorboard chunk is simply missing in the kitchen, exposing the subfloor. Fire alarms have been taken down and placed in a drawer rather than have their batteries replaced. Fixtures in the upstairs bathroom are broken. (It was a nice touch by the cleaning team to place the toilet paper roll on the middle piece of the TP holder, when the holder itself was broken, and then place the paper higher than my kid could reach.) The TV remotes were unpaired from the TVs, making them inoperable until I looked up the user manuals for everything to do it myself. Keylock doorknobs have been used on the inside of bedroom doors, but the outside doorknobs are for privacy lock knobs, meaning that the doors can be inadvertently locked (e.g., by a child) from the inside with no recourse. The bathroom fans are poorly placed to clear shower moisture and appear never to have been cleaned. Not all is bad. The couches are quite comfortable and the main living area is pleasant to be in. The upstairs foosball table is well kept and fun to use. The beds are comfy. The heat struggled a bit at first but was up to the task. The Northstar shuttle service is excellent and makes it easy to get to the mountain and back. And there is driveway clearing of snow, so we did not have to shovel the whole thing (once we got the shovel). It is unfortunate to pay Vail-level pricing for a rental that feels old-guard for this mountain.

Amazing place that hosted five of us well. The rooms were clean and tidy, with aesthetic furniture. The location is easy to access and close to all the attractions and towns nearby. The community is quiet and enjoyable with amazing views and tall trees all around. This cottage is one of the highlights of our trip to northern Tahoe.
