Great place
beautiful home away from most noise. except for the train but we got used to it. nestled in the middle of beautiful garden. there is wild life deer around. gorgeous views and sunsets. worth the drive
We enjoyed our time here. This property is larger than it looks online. The bedrooms are large enough to include bunk beds, etc but we were limited to 6 guests and respected that rule. If we find ourselves in Stevenson, WA again, we would stay here. The grounds are beautiful and the property is quiet (except for the occasional trains).
I usually hate vacasa due to the owners presence or the neighbors and a laundry list of intimidating rules and cameras. I only use it when visiting Oregon and haven't found one I would return to... until now. I enjoy having ultimate privacy and this provided that. There were some complaints about the freight train running 24/7 but I do not find trains as disturbing as planes/helicopters (which there were none). I actually find the train whistle to be rather soothing and I am sure it is a safety protocol in place especially considering the amount of deer in the area. I liked the foosball table in the rec room. The built in step for the bathtub is a tripping hazard and was built too far out from the tub, but I placed a throw rug over it to make it more visible thus less hazardous. It had a full size kitchen with a breakfast nook and a dining table that seats 8. I ate out so I did not use it. The gas grill on the deck worked and the owner provided an additional tank so I could've had a barbeque. Should I return I may cook meals in the home instead of eating out. There was also a table with chairs on a patio outside in the backyard. My adult son loved it so much that he is planning to return with his brothers to go hiking in the area.
The view is amazing and the house clean and comfortable.
Treacherous stairs to the main floor and some questionable flooring choices (raised steps around tubs and showers and to enter bathroom) made this too challenging for my 90 year old mom so we had to relocate her to the Skamania Lodge nearby. I inquired prior if there was a bedroom and bathroom on the main floor for my elderly mom and was told Yes but never warned that one must navigate a steep staircase to access. Great views but make sure you are under 70 and you watch out for tripping hazards throughout.
