The large living room, dining area, and kitchen are open and spacious. Pull up the ottoman to a spot right near the windows for a gaze out at the water, or settle back on one of the sofas. There's a comfy spot for everyone in the living room and a wood burning stove for warmth and ambiance. After a day walking around Old Town, come back to your ocean-side cottage and spend the evening watching DVDs, snacking on popcorn, or just relaxing with your feet up. You can set the dining room table for an early morning breakfast before heading down to the beach for kite flying and sand castle building. The galley-style kitchen has everything you'll need including a toaster, microwave, coffeemaker, and all the major appliances except a dishwasher. Make big pots of warming soup or a simple quinoa salad; after dinner, dishes can always soak while you walk down to the beach to catch an amazing sunset! All on one level, this home works well for any small children or older guests who may not want to navigate stairs. The two bedrooms include a bright and tidy master with a queen sized bed, large closet, and en suite bathroom. This room also has its own TV so you can stay up late surfing the cable channels or using the WiFi to check email or research restaurants. The second bedroom has a twin bed and a queen bed. Perfect for kids to share a room, this space includes a bedside table, reading lamp, and cozy, colorful quilts on the beds. An additional full bathroom is located just down the hall. This home will sleep seven guests comfortably, including two furry friends, though a nightly fee per dog and minimum fee per stay will apply. On nice sunny days, head out to the deck for a beautiful ocean view. There's also a gas grill for burgers and steaks, or you can just to sit out on the patio chairs and socialize. And in the winter, dramatic storms can be viewed from just inside, while you stay nice and toasty in the living room. In addition, just outside the back is a nice green space for kids and dogs. From the Pelican's Perch vacation home, you are steps away from the ocean's edge, where you can enjoy wide open vistas, rolling waves, and a 10 mile stretch of pristine, sandy beach. Pack a picnic lunch of sandwiches and cookies and head down for a day on the sand. Or less than a half a mile's walk along the shore is the Surfside Restaurant for lunch with a view, or even breakfast and dinner on days you don't feel like preparing a meal back at the house. Of course, if you make the short six mile drive to the Old Town section of Florence, you'll have many more dining options - hit the Beachcomber Tavern for fish and chips, the Waterfront Depot for their famous crab-crusted halibut, or even pick up Thai take-out to go back and eat in front of the fireplace while you watch DVDs of your favorite TV shows. For those seeking adventure, the Florence region does not disappoint! There are many inland lakes and the Suislaw River for fishing, as well as deep sea fishing charters leaving right from the coast at Florence and farther south at Coos Bay. You can head out in the morning and catch some ling cod or rock fish for dinner that evening! Less than an hour's drive south will take you to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Watch the ATVs and dune buggies navigate the sand or rent your own wheels and give it a try yourself.
